Article/Book Chapter Citation (APSA):
Preston, Jennifer. 2011. "Movement Began With Outrage And A Facebook Page That Gave It An Outlet". The New York Times.
The cruel death of Khaled Mohamed Saeed is a core sad theme of this journal article. Khaled supposed to have a material, which that implicated some police members in a drug deal. Two policemen drag Khaled out of the cybercafé in a time and have beaten him to death. Firstly, they claimed that Khaled died from marihuana, but post-mortem pictures and autopsy decision obviously proved another fact. In fact, the power of the internet and justice put those two detectives in prison.
Literature Review (Identify the major works, and the arguments of each cited by the author(s)):
The New York Times magazine is probably considered to be one of the most popular mass media source. Eventually, all of the issues associated with sexual harassments, bullying, inequalities and revolutions will be highlighted in this magazine. The works analyzed by Jennifer Preston are pretty much based on the Facebook information, since the page We Are All Khaled Said was made couple days after the death.
Research Design: (What method or research design does the author(s) develop as a way of testing their argument?)
Data: (What data and from which sources do the author(s) analyze?)
Mostly, as it was said above – those are Internet sources. In fact, that is where the revolution began. Eventually, the profile made on Facebook contains all of the information and is considered to be the popular Facebook page within Egypt in 2011. “Mr. Said’s death may be the starkest example yet of the special power of social networking tools like Facebook even — or especially — in a police state” (Preston 2011).
Conclusion: (How does the author(s) structure their conclusion?)
The conflict between police and masses is the common issue in Egypt. Protests and revolutions would always be discussed within social media. In fact, this is a good thing, since netocracy will at least keep the masses informed about the real situation and everyone will have a fear of being punished.
