Communication is a two way medium between people to exchange each other’s thoughts, feelings, and consideration between sender and receiver of the message. It is important that people should have a relaxed environment and have maintained excellent communication with each other at workplace.
Impact of gender differences on communication
When we analyze the impact of gender differences on communication, the impact does exist. The main difference between the two genders and their communication system is the fact that the main purpose of communication is different for both. The research on the psychology of gender differences show that women use communication as a medium to make social interactions and develop personal relationships, men on the other hand use to exercise their dominance and attain materialistic results. While communicating, females are more polite and expressive while the male counterparts are more power-hungry and self-confident (Basow & Rubenfield, 2003).
Effect of technology on communication between different cultures
The rising use of technology has completely revamped the way communication is now done between different cultures. The world is living in a global lifestyle. Initially, the technology was restricted to the use of airplanes to visit different countries and communicate with people belonging from diverse backgrounds. Then the information through newspaper, television and radio was another form of communication but now the widespread use of Internet and most importantly the social networks such as Facebook and Twitter has broken down all barriers to communication between different cultures. The use of technology has resulted in zero geographical boundaries between diverse cultures to communicate with each other (Pnina, 2008).
Does diversity affects ethical decision-making
It is important that an organization is able to maintain ethical decision-making and diversity management within the business structure in order to maintain loyalty of the employees and the customers. Diversity has a profound effect on ethical decision making as managers might show biases towards employees that belong from different cultural backgrounds and his like or dislikes might interfere in the decisions that he has to make. It is important for the managers and the organization as a whole to realize that ethical thinking involves sensitive issues as far as people belonging from different cultures are concerned and extra cautious behavior should be demonstrated in order to make considerable ethical decision-making when an organization employs diverse workforce (Pnina, 2008).
How does technology affect ethical decision-making?
Technology makes it easier to provoke unethical decision-making in the company and care should be taken by the management in this regard that technology is used to promote ethics and values within the organization and maintain decision-making standards rather than encouraging the opposite (Dumbrava, 2009). The technology can be extremely helpful in ethical and rightful making decision. For example, with the widespread information on the Internet, the HR manager can find out cultural information and details when the diverse workforce is present in the company and makes it mandatory for all the related employees to read and understand the diverse culture of their team mates. This makes it relatively easier for the members to evaluate, analyze, and make appropriate decisions about others (Dumbrava, 2009).
The different strategies for research
The technology helps in using both qualitative and quantitative methods of research. The qualitative research can be applied through wide range of scholarly and peer-reviewed articles available online in different journals. On the other hand, technology can use a quantitative method of research through different software such as Excel and SPSS then help in evolving quantitative analysis (Pnina, 2008).
