There is quiet a lot that has been going on around us and I would really appreciate it if we would get some time together and catch up a bit. Personally, I have been having some challenges here and there but am still coping with life. By the way did you hear that I lost my car in the wake of Hurricane Sunday? I have been grounded for some time but the insurance company is working on my case. I hope to be back on track soon.
The writer explains that there are some biological factors that are related to happiness. In the biological system, we all understand that there is the brain which controls all the activities of the body. Your brain is the machine which drives the different aspects of your life. This is related to happiness in that when there is a stimulus, it affects the emotions in a given way. This is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) which, when activated, prepares the body for different actins through the secretions from the pituitary gland, thyroid gland and the adrenal gland. In this context, the stimulus given to the brain determines the kind of response given; a similar manner works with the emotions. As such, I would like to advise that you try not to give negative feedbacks to your mind. I know the situation is quite tough, but you can decide to look at the brighter side of it. That way, your brain will not get the negative feedbacks and might help you to be happy again. Go for activities and events which send positive stimulus to your mind such as social functions with friends, favorite music shows, or even take a tour. Engage in something that makes you feel important and good, and this could help you to regain your happiness.
There are also cognitive factors related to emotion. This is related to your understanding and knowledge and how this can be tuned to bring happiness to you. Through our understanding, there is what we consider to be good or bad for us. This is basically due to the understanding of our minds and how we have interacted with these factors. For the factors we consider to be bad for us, there is likely to be negative emotional feedback and for the positive factors, there will be the positive feedback. This happens because we all understand what id=s good for us and what is bad for us. This also varies between individuals, and that is why it so happens that what makes one individual happy does not necessarily do the same to another person.
The behavioral factors also come in as determinants of our emotions. This is more related to the generational experiences and the peer psychology. It so happens that all the individuals have a value system which determines their behaviors. People tend to act in a manner they consider to be right for them. As such, if an individual is engaged in a behavioral activity thought to be good, then the person will be emotionally stable. Similarly, if the situation or behavior depicted by an individual is thought to be negative, then the individual is more likely than not to be unhappy and emotionally unstable. For instance, you feel quiet sad because your partner acted in a manner you feel is not right. This is why your emotions are quite down as you feel she should not have behaved in such a manner towards you.
Our social-cultural factors are also related to our emotions. This is basically due to the fact that the society has its set values and vices. It also has a set manner in which different individuals are supposed to behave and react towards each other. If one stays within the code of conduct, then the emotional security is bound to be there. On the other hand, the improper conduct can lead to emotional insecurity and happiness. In this case, your happiness has been hampered by the fact that your partner has acted in a manner that makes you feel disadvantaged. Due to these factors, you have that sense of unhappiness since things are not going right.
Based on the above factors, you can align your emotions in a manner that makes you experience happiness again. Happiness is based on where you chose to place your values and where you choose to direct your mental energies. If you chose to align them to unhappiness, then that is the case. I would advise you to look at the other side and see the positive side of life. In line with this, I would like to draw your attention to a psychological research done by the American Psychological Association in 2001 on happiness. The findings indicated that we can find happiness in the small facts of life. If you focus on the minor details that matter to you, it would be much better for you to get happiness. It all depends on what you decide to focus on. However, you have to understand that there are some barriers you would have to encounter and overcome if you have to experience the ultimate happiness. First of all, there is the limitation of your own mind. This is where you feel that you are so disadvantaged and cannot move on. You feel that since the last chapter of your life has closed, you simply cannot go on and make it in life. Rather than wallow in these feelings, you should shake it off and face your future which has endless opportunities.
