In this paperwork, I am going to outline the purpose of the fireside chat that was given by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt assessing how effective the speech was in helping the American public. I will also address the techniques adopted by the FDR to appeal to average Americans and how it addressed the fears of the American people in the wake of the great Depression.
The main objective of the speech was aimed at restoring the country, since it was facing numerous problems, such as the decline in trade and commerce. A timely program had to be applied, according to FDR, so as to rescue the ailing economy. the congress passed a well grounded plan that ensued that the pool of unemployment was being condensed, whereby, jobs were created especially to the young men who have dependant- working as preservation corps. FDR also requested the congress to put the properties owned by the government at power shoals. FDR makes it clear that they were working toward a specific goal- preventing the revisit of circumstances which came very close to demolishing what he referred as the modern civilization. It is, therefore, clear that the speech was aimed at healing the ailing country- commerce (Outlining the New Deal Program May 7, 1933).
According to FDR, the congress approved legislation authorizing the sale of beer in such states as desired, hence resulting in sizeable reemployment and has provided much needed tax revenue. Prevention of over-production was another policy, whereby, the transportation sector, industries, and farming were not supposed to produce excess goods. It could only be achieved through taking partnership in planning to see that the plans are carried out successfully. It is important to note that the government had to work healthily between farming, and industry, and transportation (Outlining the New Deal Program May 7, 1933).
According to the speech, conferences were held, whereby, the leaders of other nations, FDR among them, were in quest of executing four objectives; for example a decrease of weapons, hence removing the fear of attack and armed molest among the citizens. Cutting down of trade obstacles was the next objective that was meant to unbolt the flow of goods between nations. It was also important to stabilize the currencies for the existence of an acceptable commerce. In conclusion, relations between nations plays an important part when it comes to doing business, hence it is advisable to first establish a friendly relation as depicted by the speech given by FDR.
