In the criminal justice department, courts system can best be defined as the system that is responsible for the application as well as interpretation of the law in addition to providing a dispute resolution mechanism. Through courts systems, justice is easily administered in a given state. The courts system are very essential in criminal justice as they ensure the law is adhered to in all situations and most important is that they ensure justice is carried out and avoid law breaking (Durant, 2015). The courts system is also highly responsible in the punishing of law breakers and offenders. There are various criminal justice components that the courts system greatly interrelates to.
Law enforcement is one criminal justice component that the courts system interrelates to. This is because; the courts system is responsible in the application of the law as well as its interpretation. Therefore, these two components both strive towards achieving a goal that is unified (Durant, 2015). Law enforcement is administered by law enforcement officers, particularly the police whose work is to ensure that all the laws set by the government are enforced at both local and federal levels. The police are responsible for the prevention of crime, investigation of crime, traffic citations as well as the response to emergencies. These law enforcement officers are always patrolling roads in pursuit of traffic offenders who are of potential risk towards the society (Durant, 2015). They ensure that road safety is maintained at all costs and protect drivers on the roads from people who could potentially be of harm towards them.
Other law enforcement personnel like detectives contribute greatly in crime investigation as they are specially trained in this field and they do not rest until they get to the bottom of the crimes committed. In regards to emergencies, police officers assist in cases like fires, accidents or natural disasters like hurricanes as they are in conjunction with the ambulances and fire departments. All these aspects make it quite evident why law enforcement highly interrelates with the courts system as they are focused on achieving one goal. Another component that interrelates with the courts system is institution based corrections. This correctional system is a system that entails government agencies whose task is to protect people from dangerous individuals (Durant, 2015). Its main aim is to ensure the society is kept safe by excluding the criminals from it. This is done by confining the convicted criminals in prison where they serve a term they have been sentenced with by the judge that has been imposed by the courts. The institution based correctional system mainly advocates for the punishing of wrongdoers that are found to be guilty of committing a crime. The system aims at discouraging the individuals from committing crime again by depriving them of their freedom (Durant, 2015).
The correctional service aims at preventing individuals from committing crimes by imposing severe consequences. This has been found to be quite effective because when one thinks of the severity of the consequences that follow after committing a crime, one becomes dissuaded from doing it. This institution based correction system also has the same goal in mind which is why it interrelates to the courts system (Durant, 2015). Another interrelating component to the courts system is community based corrections which mainly entails managing offenders while they are on probation. In order for community corrections to gain safety through managing offenders in the community, they need to reach out to collaborative partners. Probation is put into practice for either first or second time offenders as well as those who have committed lesser crimes and the judge is the one to decide on this (Durant, 2015).
The whole idea of probation is to allow the defendant to stay in the community while under supervision by a probation officer. In such cases, a court judge imposes an imprisonment term on a defendant and suspends its execution provided that the defendant completes a time period under supervision (Durant, 2015). Parole is also another community based correction where a paroling authority releases an offender from their imprisonment term and is placed in the community under government officers’ supervision. The last component that interrelates to the courts system is private security. Security is greatly enhanced through private means such as hiring security guards. Protection to various businesses as well as individuals is highly provided by security guards as they often keep an eye on whatever is taking place in a specific area or at times use surveillance devices that are electronic so as to ensure safety (Durant, 2015). These private guards can be found working for hospitals, banks, stores and others working directly for individuals or certain organizations. Private security greatly enhances the security of a state at large as ensuring security is maintained in the areas under its supervision adds to the general security of a state (Durant, 2015).
In summation, from the study, it has been examined that the courts system is responsible for ensuring the law is adhered to in all cases as well as ensuring the safety of the people. It is also evident that through these courts system, justice is equally administered to all people and ensures the punishing of criminals. It has also been examined that there are various components of criminal justice that greatly interrelate to the courts system such as private security which contributes to the safety of the people. Another one is law enforcement whereby the police work towards ensuring that the law is not broken and if anyone happens to, they shall face great consequences. Though there are different components that interrelate to the courts system, it is evident that all of them aim to achieve one goal that is common to both the components as well as the courts system. As a courts system agency leader, it is advisable to have a common goal in mind while trying to deal with counterparts from other agencies within the same jurisdiction in order to attain a common ground.
