Angela Jane Dewitt, 71, of Denton, passed away, October 9, the death was caused by heart attack.Born in the late David and Hanna Bruno, Sep. 24, 1943. She had two brothers and a sister: Jonathan and Henry Bruno, of Denton; Mary Rosencrantz, of Denton. Angela graduated from Denton High School in 1962. She married the Kenneth Dewitt in 1967, whom she met when they were studying at the Connecticut Police Academy. They lived together in Denton, before relocating to Chestertown in 1989.
Angela was a sergeant of police, who made her career only by her own skills and ambitions. In 1966, she graduated from Western Maryland Police Academy and that year was applied as an officer of Denton Police Department. After making a huge contribution to the disclosure of “Butcher Hank” crimes, she was promoted to Detective in 1973. In 1977, she was promoted to police sergeant because of her hardworking. In 1981, she was retired because of the bullet wound when her police squad raided the gambling den. After her retirement, she traveled with her husband, kids and sister. The last place she visited was The Great Wall of China, in 1987. Donated money to Starving Kids of Bangladesh.
Angela Jane Dewitt is survived by four children: Andrew and Sam Dewitt, of Denton; Jane Fellow and Helen Carter, of Chestertown. She also is survived by five grandchildren.
Viewing will be at 5 p.m., October 14 at Bruno Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 2 p.m., October 15 at Denton Cemetery.
