Part 1
Question 1
I would like to agree that Mr. C should undergo a bariatric surgery. He has been suffering from obesity for quite some time. Being a 32-year old man makes him be susceptible for other obesity-related diseases. He has not been able to carry out a rigorous physical exercise because of the nature of his job at the catalog telephone center. I am therefore strongly convinced that he can only be relieved after a successful carrying out of this surgical procedure. It will offer him a long-term solution for his condition (Pool, R., 2001).
On the other hand, his conditions indicate that he has higher chances of developing a high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, Gallbladder disease and gallstones and sleep opnea. This is evidenced from the glucose and cholesterol levels in his body. He should be offered a bariatric surgery by using the most appropriate method. The operation can be done by reducing the size of the stomach, removing a section of the small intestines using a gastric band (Levy-Navarro, E., 2008). Besides, it can be administered by re-routing the small intestines. Mr. C’s conditions necessitate this operation since he has a heavy weight and is also having obesity related conditions. This will offer him a long-term solution to his persistent obese problem.
Question 2
Peptic Ulcer Disease should be treated before it puts the life of Mr. C at a risk. Having had an appointment with his doctor indicates that the patient is concerned about his health. Rather than the given prescriptions, Mr. C should ensure that he adopts a recommended lifestyle which can enable him to lead a healthier life. This may include adopting a healthy diet consisting of vitamins, fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Besides, he should adopt a stress-free life by engaging in physical exercises and sharing his time with friends and relatives. This will give him an ultimate relief.
The above schedule fits him. This is based on the fact that he takes the following meals at 7 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m., and a bedtime snack at 10 p.m.
Part 2
Question 1
I would like to point out that Mr. C, as a Peptic Ulcer Disease patient has got a self-concept regarding his condition. As already highlighted, he has taken the initiative to visit a medical doctor. This is recommended because he can get information regarding the general health management of his condition. Of course, nutritional and sleep-rest schedules are appropriate. It will enable him to cope up with life and be able to be healthier. However, he should also be ready to co-relate well with other people. This will relieve him of any stressful situation which may worsen his condition.
Question 2
The following problems are identified:
- Lack of physical exercise which is essential for him
- Poor interpersonal relations because the patient does not involve other people
- Poor eating habits because he eats snacks
- Poor time schedule which makes it hard for him to use the prescribed drugs
