Abstract
E-commerce is a growing trend in the website world. Companies and business see the need to create dedicated e-commerce packages for their customers. One major factor for its growth is the internet’s simplicity. The internet paved the way for great advancements in the world and made life easy for the common man. One can easily do many errands through the internet like booking for a hotel, paying for a plane ticket, creating awareness or warning people. Hence, it is essential for companies to follow suite with the changes if they wish to keep their current customer base. Apart from that, it enables them to expand their horizons. However, implementation of the e-commerce might be a huge flop if one does not consider the risks involved or follow proper channels during the implementation process. The paper looks into an insurance company that needs to improve its current website and add an e-commerce section.
Websites act as an online portfolio for a company. Their main aim is to sell a company’s services and portfolio at the same time providing useful information about the location and telephone numbers. However, the industry advanced further through the incorporation of e-commerce and database management. Currently, the world of websites has a wide arena with vast possibilities and combinations that clients and individual developers have at their disposal. The move to digitize most operations is essential to a company or business. City Security Insurance understands the need to upgrade their website and as BCG, we aim to make the shift fast, simple and competitive. Most of the client’s needs are achievable due to the availability of tools in the industry.
CSIC aims to update its existing e-commerce website, update their portfolio and services. Apart from that, it would like to create a new e-commerce system for its insurance coverage, medical professional liability, management protection and employment-related practices liability. Lastly, it would like to incorporate its international offices’ portfolio and services in its main website. However, it requires that its main website indicate the corporate headquarters as New York City. These are the changes it seeks to make on its website.
The User Interface will entail a remake of all pages to be responsive to devices and browsers available on the market. Responsive websites are ideal for users as it provides them all the information in a simplified way (Petrone, 2015). Apart from that, the different screen sizes on mobiles and tablets make it easier for users to touch specific tabs on the site with ease. The other modification is creating a widget that will combine all the sites to one. It would be essential to create sites for each city as it helps in avoiding too much traffic on the main one (Gomez, 2013). However, they should run under one address, and the user’s location will help in directing them to the appropriate site. Another helpful widget would be a translator embedded into the app as it will help non-English speakers navigate the site in their preferred language. These will be the work for back-end developers. Another task would be to create a database to store the user’s information and feedback.
The E-commerce site will require an effective outline from the user-experience developers. The site navigation should be seamless especially the dialog box and menus (Staff, 2013). Setting up the payment systems will be a crucial task that will involve the UI and UX developers together with ethical hackers to tie down any loopholes within the system. The security on user’s information especially their debit and credit card are essential in ensuring proper protection.
The solutions are effective as it employs the latest technology in the industry. The shift to responsive websites, incorporation of ethical hackers in building websites and employing e-commerce will be crucial to the project’s success. The plan might have a loophole, but it will be easy to seal them when noted.
In conclusion, CSIC will have an effective system that its users and employees will find seamless and simple to use. Apart from that, it will boost their professional status in the industry.
