Markets in the Middle East
Given the political unrest and the instability in the Middle East, one might be forgiven for thinking that the markets in the region are poorly developed. This makes perfect sense since it is well known that stability affects the economy of a country. However, an analysis of the Afghanistan markets seems to reveal a different idea, as indicated in the paragraphs below.
In as much as the markets are not so developed, yet they are of a good standard. According to Ethnic Foods (2012) one can easily get the fresh farm products, especially groceries from farmers market. This means that there are open air markets where the people can shop for the products they need. The products include spices and vegetables as well as meat products. All the ingredients are fresh since they are from the farms.
Fro the people who are technologically advanced, it would be easy for them to shop in the country as well. There is online shopping where the people can order products from the stores (Ethnic Foods, 2012). This works very much in the same way as it is in the U.S where most of the people do their shopping online.
Though the situation in the country might not be as stable, the market can be sadi to be doing better than that of Iraq, given that the latter has suffered more from the instability. The Afghan market can be said to be hybrid in nature. It has the third world aspect where there are open air markets supplied by the farmers. On the other hand, there are the technologically advanced markets where online shopping is on the rise. This is a good prospect for a region which suffers from much instability.
