Stress is a component existing in every person’s life. There have been a lot of instances which I ended up getting stressed. In mid-July last year, I was undertaking a course in project management in a certain college in town. I had a single mother paying for my fees at that time, but had remained with some amount to complete. My mother was a stylist and used not to earn little money from her business.
At that time, it had remained 3 days before the final exam. In accordance to the college’s exam regulation, students ‘who do not complete fees, are not allowed to sit for the examination. I kept pressuring my mother for the fee’s money, but she kept insisting that she could not access any at that time. As pressure continued to build resulting from exam preparation and the fear of not doing exams due to not completing my fees, the worst happened; my mother fell sick and got admitted in hospital because of acute pneumonia.
I had never faced such a great challenge in my life as my only bread winner was not around to cater for my academics. I was forced to forfeit my preparations and look for money from my relatives to pay for the hospital bills. Getting money from my relatives was not an easy task as they had not been in good terms with our family for years. At that time, I was stressed emotionally, mentally, spiritually and academically.
I remember one time as I was sited next to her bed, kneeling and reaching down to a bible had been placed near her, opened a chapter in the book of Mathew on Jesus healing the sick, reading to her, then finally praying. I prayed for nearly 30 minutes as I spilled out all I had in my heart as I sought God’s guidance in the situation which I was going through.
2 days later after struggling to raise money from relatives with no success, a good Samaritan in the name of a charitable organization contributed some considerable amount of money that assisted me to pay my mother’s hospital bill plus the rest, paid my fees. I managed to undertake my exams as my mother recovered.
This was my worst moment in life as I was stressed a lot. Pressure was all over me from all direction. It is through the power of prayers that I managed to get relief from the stresses I had.
