United States of America is a sovereign Nation and it is a nation with the strongest military in the world. The United States Navy is a branch of the United States Armed Forces that deals with naval warfare. The Department of the Navy administers the organization of the United States Navy. The secretary of the Navy heads it. This organization is mainly to ensure that the United States is safe from aggression and to maintain the freedom of the seas. The organization of the Navy is composed of officers with different ranks. They all have a role to play in their work of protecting the Nation. The Navy uses ships to do their work in the seas. The ships go to the sea for different durations depending on the task. The tasks include training and operations. Their main work is protecting the seas. They also have a full time duty of ensuring that the aircraft, ship and other machinery in the ship work properly and efficiently (Hamilton, 2012, p. 31, par. 1). The Navy workdays vary depending on the tempo of the operations. The American Military have rules to follow. These rules are also present in the Navy. The rules ensure that the work execution happens in an orderly way.
The United States Navy is independent of America`s politics. This is because participation of military in politics will undermine professionalism. The junior officers take orders from their seniors. This type of command and control allows the tasks execution without friction between the officers. Respect must exist between the officers regardless of the rank one holds in the United States Navy (Schneller, 2005, p. 6, par, 4). Deployment of the officers occurs regardless of where one comes from. This eliminates complaints from the officers.
The organization of the Navy is more effective the way it operates without much democracy. Many cases of indiscipline would arise if the members of the United States Navy made decisions at will. The officers must seek permission from the officers who hold ranks higher than they do. Democracy in this type of organization will render the organization ineffective because it will cause conflicts within the ranks of the Navy.
The contemporary workplace allows democracy to thrive well. Workers enter into trade unions that assist them in collective bargaining. The unions negotiate for better workplace practices. This lead to better changes (Dew, 1997, pg. 17, par. 1). This allows the organizations to work effectively. Workers have autonomy in the contemporary workplace and they only need to inform their superiors of the decisions they take. Democracy empowers the workers and this makes them productive in the workplace. This leads to the organizations being able to meet their targets.
