Television is an extremely common entertainment element in most homesteads. It is mostly preferred since it is informative on both audio and visual reporting of certain activities. Following the adverse traffic of people following the programs that take place in TVs the element has been turned to an exceptionally business tool. It has been used by most companies as the advertising tool for their businesses and they trust that it fetches these companies a lot of customers. However, the TV content is not segregated to certain age bracket. It occurs to all people with children forming a large section of the people who get this information first. The TV has had influence on actions as well as reactions in children through harmful ethics among children. In combination with video games, TV programs have become aware of certain violence techniques. Parents need to control the accessibility of TV in their houses by children.
One of the marketing strategies that any form of advertisement is supposed to consist is attractiveness to the client. This means that any advert has to be uniquely developed to ensure it carries away most TV viewers. Therefore, companies will always look for the prettiest ladies and gentlemen to assist in conducting the advertisement. For example, most car advertisements use ladies who are extremely beautiful standing next to the car. In most cases, these ladies are models who are dressed in extremely indecent manner. This has been extremely influential on how young girls want to dress. They always admire the dress code for these ladies and wish they would dress like them. In the modern day, accessing the most recent fashion may be extremely easy for girls at teenage (Cooper, 2004). Once a child is lured to such fashions they will always be out for competitions with other ladies and this may attract immorality as each one of them would wish to be recognized as the beauty queen.
Advertisements where extremely beautiful women are used may influence self esteem among some young ladies. This is based on the ability of the girls to interpret the images they see about the agents of advertisements and compare themselves to these agents. Some of them will always find themselves inferior as they may not afford the car being advertised in future since they do not have the beauty extent required. Following their naïve minds their friends may confront the on their physical outlook posing an extensive challenge to their self esteem as well as ego (McCall, 2007). This would have extensive influence to how these children will relate with each other in future.
Young boys have also fallen victims of the rampant advertisements that consist of half-naked women in the TV. Following the immature sexual thoughts surrounding young men, it is extremely easy to influence them towards fantasizing with these women. Since they are not mature enough to engage in sexual activities which are usually prohibited among children, they will always look for methods through which they will satisfy their sexual desires. This has been a contributive factor to the rampant masturbation problem that has been affecting most boys in the society. Others get into an extent of getting sexual partners at this small age. Since both girls and boys have different missions they would wish to satisfy as a result of extensive influence by the TV sexual immorality becomes a part of the livelihood of children (Cooper, 2004).
Advertisements do not segregate between healthy and harmful products for consumption. They classify them as objects of advertisements and need must be created among customers. Therefore, even harmful products are branded in such a manner that they appear extremely nice and useful among consumers. This has landed most children to harmful consumptions that are addictive and would ruin their lives in the near future. Some of the main elements that children get addicted to are cigarettes and alcohol. These are some of the elements that have the most attractive advertisements. In such advertisements, they use superstars as agents for the advertisement. With a large number of children watching the advertisement, most of them will be lured to test the feeling for consuming the given product. Early exposure to alcohol and cigarettes for children is a representation of a ruined future of the society. Children will not be in a position to stand in the gap to represent sensitivity of unhealthy living which may easily expose them to deadly diseases as well as actual death (Cooper, 2004).
Apart from advertisements, TVs have been used as entertainment tools. Some of the mainly common forms of entertainment in the TV include movies and songs. Children are renowned to extensively follow on action movies than themes driven movies. Action movies are usually developed through vigorous actions which are inhuman in nature as people are brutally killed in the process. Excessive exposure of the mind of a young person to such actions will win them extremely easily to the harmful actions of fights that may ruin their relationship among each other rendering a consistently quarreling society. Also, video games have been developed where superstars are used to cause the challenge in the game. At some point, children fail to take these games fiction driven elements and go to another mile of practicing what they see. This has been extremely influential to negative relationship among young people following the influence of these games. Some young people will try some of the fighting techniques that they have watched on TVs or have played in games on their counterparts where he or she may kill his counterparts or himself die in the action process (McCall, 2007).
With so much exposure to the TV, children usually forget with what is expected of them by the society. At young age, it is acceptable for children to engage in social activities where they may play together and challenge each other through various skills. However, with so much exposure to television programs the act of socialization among children has become extremely uncommon. Also, children have been carried away by televisions to a point that they cannot engage in the most meaningful activities for them at their young age. For example, when children become TV addicts they cannot engage in to studying activities. This means that current pleasure will ruin the excellent future that may result from young people being educated. However, this problem may be controlled among young people. The main agent who may attract positivity in the tender age for children is the parent. He or she needs to regulate the TV content that his or her children get exposed to and it has to be controlled in a unique manner. Parents may control the access to TV by their children through setting length of time which children may spend on the TV. Video games that are extremely rough should not be bought for these children so as to protect the ill behavior that these people may develop at their young age (Gunter, 1998).
Although, TVs have been of extensive help to the business world through marketing in form of advertisements, they have had negative influence among children in the society. Through seductive adverts young boys and girls have become loose of their morality. Ill consumption behaviors have also been enhanced among children through addictions. On the other hand, TV entertainments in form of movies and video games have nurtured inhumanity among young people. Therefore, parents need to intervene and control the effects through controlled time of watching movies as well as playing video games. Children need be taught the need for leading responsible living through minding the entertainment content they watch or listen.
