1. Introduction
Human Resource conferences are held to develop professional skills of individuals. It is important to attend career events to know about the current status of job openings in the industry. It helps people to find and seek out good employers. The Careers for HR events helps the HR managers to find out excellent and new talents out of the huge crowd. The main purpose of attending the career events is to get introduced to the reputed organisation seeking for new talents. Along with that, the speeches of market leaders help to develop personal skills and knowledge to convert weaknesses into strengths and threats into opportunities.
2. Reflection on employability
The reflection on employability by different perspective is presented below:
2.1 Employer’s Perspective
The employers look for different skills of employees while recruiting them for the job. The employers want people to have adequate knowledge and skills to get fit for the job. For example, most of the employers look for people having experience in the field in which they will be recruited. There are some employers who look for fresh talent to reduce the cost of hiring new people (Ellwood, 2011, p.161). It can be seen that in most cases, employers use e-recruitment sites and social media to spread the news of job offerings. Hence, the employers recruit individuals who are aware of the technology development and can meet up with different challenges in respective job’s field.
2.2 Personal Perspective
The personal perspective on employability is presented with the help of an individual SWOT analysis that is discussed in the points given below:
2.2.1 Strengths
I have an excellent communication skill that is the foremost strength of mine. Along with that, I am a person with positive attitude. I am flexible enough to meet all sorts of challenges in my job. I have self-confidence and the ability to prioritise my work. I am capable of learning from my mistakes and have the ability to cope up with failures. I have good interpersonal skills, planning, and analytic skills. I have an experience of working in different companies at different positions. Along with that, I am seeking my management degree and hope to complete it by the end of 2017. I am capable of speaking and writing three different languages that are Romanian, English and French. Hence, I am capable of accepting challenges in the role of an HR.
2.2.2 Weaknesses
I sometimes feel nervous in speaking in front of a huge mass. I am workaholic and become impatient at times. I am over friendly and too much ambitious. I focus too much on work and get almost no time to relax. I am too much oriented towards my job and feel nervous in taking important decisions. But, in most cases I find success through my analytic and critical thinking skills.
2.2.3 Opportunities
As I have selected a career in human resources management, it is essential to make a list of the present opportunities in the market. In the enterprise rent a car, there are significant job opportunities in the human resource management. As the companies require maintaining a massive database and employees, there is always an opportunity for the management candidates.
2.2.4 Threats
In the car rent enterprises, the capability of the managers has been recognised by the response of the customers and employees. Therefore, customer’s satisfaction is always a challenging task to be maintained by the human resources manager. Furthermore, the manager must deliver effective management skills and experience to get the work done by available human resources.
3. Personal development plan
3.1 Development Plans
In a personal development plan, one needs to expand the current skills and knowledge by setting high standards of performance. In career development, a human resources manager must take effective moves to energise and motivate the employees setting examples at the workplace (Ireland, Cure and Hopkins, 2009, p.40). Simultaneously, addressing the knowledge gaps, the HR manager must set plans to complete the performance goals for an organisation. Eventually, the HR manager must build up transferable skills such as technical knowledge and professional skills by self-learning and job oriented training. In the case of searching new jobs, a social media plan has been mentioned in Appendix two.
3.2 Converting weakness into strengths
In the case of converting the weaknesses into strengths, a four-way model should be applied such as setting objectives, prioritising objectives, identifying resources and reassessment. Most of the time, HR managers have failed to set objectives regarding employee goals and performance analysis. Therefore, using basic personal and professional skills of the management, HR managers can set definite objects to work according to the strengths. Now, in the next step, it is equally important to prioritise the work objectives according to the schedule or importance. Identifying the right order, human resources manager can utilise specific employee’s role to complete the task with scheduled time (Jeske, Backhaus and Stamov Roßnagel, 2013, p.275). Finally, reviewing the development plan can determine the factors suitable for completing the task within the given timeframe. In this way, a human resources manager can complete a given task in an efficient way.
