Introduction
Communication is a paramount tool in the way people relate in the society. It is the platform where people can express their sentiments and concur amicably or result in a fight if they disagree. For communication to achieve positive results, it has to be effective .All parties have to entertain each other’s expressions and base their response based on the concerns raised.
For communication to be effective listening is one of the contributing factors. It provides an opportunity for one to internalize the other people’s opinions. Effective communication is significantly attributed to adolescent stage of growth .At this stage a child relies on the parents’ way of communication in case a contention arises. If the parents talks in an intimidating way the child is likely to imitate the parents’ behaviors and make it a norm.
Part 1: Tamem
According to the first response, lapse of communication between ranks is evident. The narrator claims to be a victim of scenarios, the commanding arm and the receiving arm. Ineffective communication among people of the same rank is fully described .moreover the narrator explains communication hiccups between the leader and the followers.
In any profession, leaders tend to undermine each other’s capability of running a department. Some leaders have a dictatorial way of leadership, ignoring other peroples’opinions. However, the employees can also undermine the status if their boss thus adversely affecting communication. In the education context, the manner in which teachers communicate with the parent is different from the way they relate with students. Teachers claim to have the final say when students’ matters arise. They believe that students only responsibility is to obey the instructions not to question the authority .This leads to ineffective communication between the e two parties since one is not considerate. In my opinion, students should be granted fair grounds to express where they feel oppressed.
However, some teachers are quick to inform of parents of their children’s progress in a very cordial manner. Others misinform the parents of their child’s performance to avoid responsibility and reprimand. This is due to information asymmetry between the teacher and the guardian or parent. To achieve effective communication, ranks should not define the manner of communication .each party is entitled to question the other and demand sound response without fear or victimization.
Part 2: Feret
The victim explicitly exposes stubbornness when communication takes stage between parties of different ranks. Parents are always rational about their children’s life .they believe that by defining a path for them to follow, they will shield them from devastating circumstances that may ruin their careers. However, this precedence does not always yield positive results. Children should be allowed to express themselves under the guidance of their parents .denying them this opportunity will cement bad communication culture of dictatorship which they may forward to their children. Listening is an imperative tool in effective communication.
For effective communication, one ought to be a good listener in order to make comprehensive conclusion. According to the victim, understanding his father’s weaknesses and strengths made him succeed in his quest to attend public school. He quotes his father as poor communicator but a good listener. Therefore, understanding the other party’s character traits is important in any conversation. If a person is haste in making decisions, your stubbornness will save your from adverse consequences.
In conclusion, parents should only monitor their children’s decisions rather than dictating how they should operate their day-to-day activities. Listening and understanding is the key tools for effective communication for a noble society.
