A recidivism rate of 0% gives me a hundred percent confidence that a person who goes through the boot camp set up by the sheriff’s department will not relapse into social deviance or undesirable behavior that necessitated their participation in the boot camp in the first place. This statement does not offer absolute confidence for just one of the participants of the boot camp. It offers a guarantee that all people that go through the boot camp will be transformed completely. This statement does not offer room for error or uncertainty. It guarantees success in the highest levels for all the participants of the local sheriff’s boot camp.
In my opinion their statement is over ambitious. The local sheriff’s department is offering people certainty and guarantees of complete transformation. The human psychie is a very delicate and mysterious part of the human subconscious.no one can truly predict the rate and level to which a large number of people can get completely rehabilitated (Shaw, 2006). Offering absolute certainty of the success of this boot camp seems over ambitious to me. Even after undergoing mass rehabilitation it is possible to predict the future behavior of a person or a group of people but never with absolute certainty especially in regard to a very large number of people. Even the most competent and skilled psychologists on the planet have raised issues about the unpredictability of the human mind and the enigma that is social behavior. I think this statement is farfetched and is offering the local people a false sense of certainty. I think they should offer the local people a certain degree of certainty but not absolute certainty since absolute certainty sounds unrealistic and just an advertisement gimmick.
It is also of interest to know exactly why the sheriff’s department is guaranteeing a recidivism rate of 0%.maybe this is a plot aimed at defrauding the public or offering them a sense of false hope.it is of interest to know on what grounds the sheriff’s department is guaranteeing a recidivism rate of 0%. The public needs to know the source of this confidence and gauge whether this is warranted confidence or just arrogance on the part of the sheriff’s department. The sheriff’s department also needs to prove to the public that their boot camp is safe in terms of the medical effects it has on the participants. This can be achieved by the sheriff’s department getting medical experts to demystify the boot camp to the public. This will also serve to raise public confidence in the boot camp as an institution. With a medical expert on board the public will have a clear picture of the boot camp and exactly hat in entails in terms of its rehabilitatory capacity.
In order to increase public confidence that changes in the participants of the program were actually caused by participation of the program the local sheriff department needs to make public the list of activities that take place during this boot camp. This will enable the public to critically scrutinize this list of activities and determine its validity as well as the validity of the claims by the local sheriff department of a recidivism rate of 0%this will demystify the content of this boot camp that is offering profound changes in people that have previously proved elusive(Lee, 2005). The public might even consult with psychology experts in regard to the activities on this list by the local sheriff’s department. This will give the public expert opinion on these activities which take place in this boot camp and help the public determine their validity and the claims of absolute success and certainty of this boot camp by the local sheriff’s department.
After providing the list of activities that take place on this boot camp the local sheriff’s department should provide further information about these activities. Such further information should include the significance of these activities in rehabilitation (Vanbrugh, 2010). They should also explain the after effects that these activities have on the psychology of the people that partake in them. This will give the public full information on exactly what it is that goes on during this boot camp and how it affects the people who take part in this particular boot camp. The sheriff’s department should also explain to the public the motivation behind the selection of these exact activities for their boot camp. Why did they choose these exact activities and in that exact order should be the question that the local sheriff’s department answers.
