Art is the perfect way of expressing one's ideas, mind, and thoughts. An artist tries to express him or herself through his or her artistic work. The artist works to confirm what the mind and thought of that artist are. Whether it’s a drawing, sculpt music or craft work, it’s an inner experience of the person that is bursting out. Artists live in an environment that composed of life science in the form of biology. The artists ‘encounter with the environment account for their imagination. The brain of man is easily masked by what see and or what he already know. The knowledge at hand is likely to influence the way the person think and a result what he expose from his mind. Scientist for years has had a close link with art. Biologists have depended upon a creative art power to express their speculation in the process of trying to convince others to think in their line of thoughts. The reverse remains true that the artist have been biased to some aspect of science. Some scientists have shown bias to incline their artwork to biology.
Ernst Haeckel was a scientist who lived from the year 1834 to the year 1919. His career was diverse ranging from philosophy, politics to biology. Heckles' research work he carried out in the biological world is primarily expressed by the artistic work that he produced. His reasoning, assignments and undertakings are partly as a result of life science that he was involved in from time to time. His major artistic work that impressed biology is discussed below.
Haeckel practiced empirical enlargement as an artist. The great work in this engagement involved making drawings of slight objects bigger enough that one could draw conclusive meaning from them. Haeckel drew plants with precision to give a precise meaning to life and its actual form. The drawing work made it clear that the world is systematic, and everything in plants nature has a pattern that it flows without any confusion.
Lithograph collection distinguishes Haeckel as an artist consumed in biology. The group consists of about one hundred carefully designed and painted works. The accomplishment in this group made him to be considered this the marvel of the 19th century. Every artist who encounters his work marvels at it, as scientists’ credit him in this outspoken work. The Publishing of Haeckel work in 1904 lead the world of biology to a new development and in-depth understanding of the environment and the natural world.
Haeckel was a guru in visual narration. His talent in narration of new concepts through pictures and drawing profoundly influence any audience who come across his work. Charles Darwin’s work was made simple, logic and easy to digest for many students through the visual persuasion of Haeckel. Haeckel expanded and logically summarized the concept of evolution that was developed by Darwin to the academic world. Any man who wants to understand evolution theory without confusion or fiction consults Haeckel drawings and can see the sense of the explanation.
Haeckel s full travel and collection was very interesting in the study of biology. Excitements, new discoveries and collections that Haeckel noted were important hence conserved for the future. The interest to spread his knowledge to generations to come made him establish the phyletic museum in Jane. Critical analysis proves that Haeckel was under the influence of biology leading to the establishment of this museum. Rather than keeping his work for others to see in the future, he was in the process of making scientific study of life and evolution easier. The artifacts diagrams .lithographs, charts and tree diagrams that he had used to make some observations and conclusions could know be available for further study in the future. Informational gap is a fundamental challenge for many biologists. The missing information leads to misinterpretation and wrong conclusion. The missing information may not be necessary missing, but rather another biologist not being aware of the existence of such information. Biologist needs to conserve their information and findings for others and in the process; Haeckel established a museum that is very crucial today to many scientists.
The creativity of Haeckel resulted in the discovery and use of three diagrams in the study of biology. The creative nature of the artist gave birth to this new concept valued by many scientists in the study of evolution and classification of living thing. The fact scientists have varied opinion and criticism of the Haeckel work; the fundamental fact remains that significant and praise worth.
The talent of the ability of Haeckel to describe unseen and entirely unknown thing to the audience is a great pillar in the study of biology. The man was able to flamboyantly figure out the Darwinians natural selection theory. Consequently, the description of unknown species of man matched the remains that were later found Indonesia by his student who. The remains exactly matched what Haeckel had explained and even named it as Pithecanthropus lulus.
In conclusion, the inter-relationship between biology and art is very high. Biology looks upon art to express itself. On the other hand, biology can influence an artist in his work to the extent that the artist becomes completely bias to biology. Haeckel is the best example of an artist who completely sunk into biology to the extent of making significant contribution to the development various subjects in biology such as evolution and classification. It is more crucial to note that an artist become influenced by science when they have a scientific back up.
