Introduction and Thesis:
According to Christianity, Jesus Christ is the Son of God in the Holy Trinity. There are three manifestations of God in human’s life: God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus therefore is the God who manifested in the life of man as a physical human being. After man sinned, the earth was overtaken by sin and every individual brought into this world was with the sin carried from Adam. Jesus therefor came to save us from our sins. He manifested himself as human being so that He can interact with us as a human with flesh and blood. He was persecuted and crucified, a symbol cleansing of our sins. As Jesus left He promised us to send us the holy spirit which will guide us until his return. The existence of Jesus Christ in this world brought about the cleansing of human sins and the salvation of human generation.
Point I:
According to John (1:1) Jesus existed before the creation of Heaven and Earth. He was the word that God used to create the universe. After the creation of the universe, the serpent deceived man into sin. As a result, the entire generations of human was flawed. Jesus was therefore sent by God so as to give the world the second chance of salvation. His coming was prophesized by several prophets such as Jeremiah, Isaiah and Amos. “Behold! A virgin will conceive and give birth to a son. His name will be Emmanuel.” Isiah (7:14). This prophesy was fulfilled was fulfilled when Mary who was a virgin conceived and gave birth to Jesus. His immaculate conception was an evidence that he was conceived by the power of the holy spirit. Even though Jesus was not the biological son Joseph, we can say that he was from the line of David.
Point II:
The main reason why Jesus came to earth in a human form was to break the vail between human and God. For a long time, people prayed through prophets and Levites. Jesus therefore came to ensure that man could now reach the God directly through Him. “No one comes to the Father, but through me” (NIV, John 14:6). Jesus therefore is the way through which the human race will reach heaven. According to Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, (NIV, Ephesians 5:23), the man is the head of the woman and Jesus the head of the church. During his life in earth, Jesus taught on various issues. One of the most significant teaching of Jesus was salvation and being born again. In John (3:16), Jesus told Nicodemus that the only way to see the kingdom of God is to be born again. Being born again meant that you should repent your sin and be baptized.
Point III:
When Jesus was persecuted and crucified, he died in the cross so as to cleans our sins. The moment of his death, the curtain at the holy section of the temple was torn into two symbolizing the breaking of the vail between the human and God. Jesus resurrected from the dead after three days (NIV, Luke 24:1-12). This symbolized that He died with our sins and resurrected with the holy spirit. When Jesus first revealed himself to the disciples after his death, he promised them that he will be gone but he will send the holy spirit that will guide them until he comes back again. During the day of Pentecost, the holy spirit came upon the apostle in form of tongues of flames as Jesus promised (NIV, Acts 2: 1-20). Jesus Christ manifested himself to Apostle John when he was confined in the Island of Patmos. He revealed to him what are expected to happen before the end of times (NIV, Revelation 1:1-5).
Conclusion:
The significance of Jesus Christ in our life cannot be gainsaid. His manifestation as a physical human made it easy for us to believe in him. He, as the Rabbi, gave several teachings on salvation and eternal life. He performed miracles by healing the sick and raising the dead. He suffered and died for our sin so that we can live. When he went back to heaven, he left with us the holy spirit which was to guide us before he comes back.
