Example Of Essay On Artist Statement

The Kensington Street of Toronto can be rather empty at times when it is not a bustling city. However, recently some artwork that represents it has caught my attention. All three photos not only take a look into the state of certain parts of Toronto, but they are also depicted in a social and cultural perspective as well. The first image represents a poverty-type stricken side of the situation, the second image has a middle ground, and the third photo represent a more wealthy side of Toronto. In the first image, the color green combined which is combined with a sad face, represents a poverty-stricken area plagued by graffiti which is also present in the picture as well. The color green on the art poster gives off the feeling that there could be so much improvement to the area if people were willing to work together. The second image is a work that is enticing and comes in many colors, yet at the same time, it is surrounded by an area that appears to be in an average condition. All of the artistic imagery in the photo goes back to my original statement, which says that people of all color can work together, put their differences aside, and create something great. As for the third and final picture, we see that all of the colors are closer together than in the previous image. However, a major difference is that the backdrop comes with a fancy house. This is to represent that no matter what kinds of social and cultural backgrounds people come from, working together and creating unity can take a poverty stricken area into something that is worth looking at. There are many interpretations to how one may see the art that is represented, but my analysis is my own take on all three photos.
