First Letter to the Corinthians, also known as 1 Corinthians, is the first out of two letters, written by St Paul the Apostle to the church community, founded by him a few years before in Corinth. The First Letter to the Corinthians is one of the thirteen letters written by the Apostle. According to the New Testament canon, the 1 Corinthians is the seventh book of the New Testament. The letter was written about 53-57 AD at Ephesus, a city of Asia Minor, which is located on the western coast of modern Turkey. The first letter of St Paul reveals the problems that appeared within the first years after establishment of the church in Corinth. At the beginning of the letter Apostle Paul greets the community and thanks to God as well as teaches the members of the church to be thankful. Then he describes his sadness regarding the division in Corinth he was informed about. He reminds that everybody is a servant of God. Further, Paul provides the answers regarding immorality, court cases, marriages and celibacy, and other problems of faith of the early church. The Apostle points out on the importance of love without which any gift is meaningless. Paul also confirms the Resurrection of Christ and discovers this doctrine as one of the important components of Christian faith.
Saint Luke, or Luke the Evangelist, is one of the four Evangelists. A lot of information about his life is missing. He was born in Antioch in Syria and died at the age of 84 in Boeotia in Greece. Probably he was a Gentile. Luke the Evangelist was the physician but became the disciple of Saint Paul the Apostle and joined him in his missionary journeys. Saint Luke is the author of the third canonical Gospel of Jesus Christ, where he describes the life and death of the Son of God. It is widely believed that he is also the author of the Acts of the Apostles. This book provides an insight into the history of the early church. Luke is mentioned in the several Pauline letters including Epistles to Philemon, Letter to Colossians and the Second Letter to Timothy, where he refers to Luke as a coworker. Paul also writes that Luke accompanies him in Rome near the end of his life. Paul the Apostle is the author of the fourteen out of twenty-seen books of the New Testament, including epistles to the churches he founded in Asia Minor and Europe (Letters to Romans, First and Second Letters to Corinthians, Letter to Ephesians, Letter to Galatians, Letter to Philippians, Letter to Colossians, First and Second Letter to Thessalonians) and letters to individuals (First and Second Letter to Timothy, Letter to Titus and Letter to Philemon)
Cana, or Cana of Galilee, is a village or town on the west of the Sea of Galilee. Historians consider two locations to be the Cana mentioned in the Bible. One of them is Kafr Kanna, the modern Arab city situated in the Northern district of Israel. The first settlements appeared on the territory of the town long before the Christian era, and Kafr Kanna still exists. Khirbet Quana is another probable location of the biblical Cana. It is a place of the archeological excavations situated several miles north from Nazareth. The investigations show the traces from the Hellenistic to early Arab periods in the history of the region. There is no clear information regarding the foundation of Khirbet Qana but the village was most likely ruined in the 7th century during the Arabic invasions. The only biblical references to Cana are mentioned in the Gospel of John. The village is well-known as the place Marriage or Wedding at Cana where Jesus Christ performed the first miracle. According to John he turned water into wine during the wedding festivities. From Cana Jesus went to Capernaum to heal the son of a nobleman. Besides, Cana is mentioned as a birthplace of Apostle Nathaniel.
