Career Development Plan
Nursing is one of the most involving careers to pursue as they requires one’s time, dedication, emotional involvement as well as physical involvement (Kearney-Nunnery, 2008). To me, it’s one of the few easy ways to give back to the society and still maintain one’s life. My plan is to dedicate my life to my career giving it my all so as to benefit in the long run, this involves switching to become a family nursing practitioner from my insurance job to pursuing of my education up to the PhD level in nursing where I will be in a position to effectively carry out my duties as well as giving my time and dedication to my career so as to meet my career plans.
With my current level of education and experience, I have the skills and experience to join the nursing family as I do believe in giving back to the community, but according to my career development plan, am still yet to reach the end of my journey, in fact am still on the beginning of my journey in the start of my career path. My career development plan involves the completion of my master’s degree I family nursing with the relevant skills and knowledge acquired so as to help me serve efficiently in the job market as well as enable me receive recognition from the various groups and heads to enable me in the attaining of my goal. Furthering my educations levels by enrolling for my doctorates, this implies that I should attain the relevant GPA scores in my masters to enable me be in a position to continue with my doctorate when I see fit. My doctorate will put me in a better position to advance my career by providing the required skills and knowledge in my job specification; this will also come with experience acquired over the years hence putting me in a better position to advance forward (Ohlsson& Borg, 2010).
My current accomplishment including my admission into the master’s programme where I have been given the chance to further my education and nursing skills. This will enable me to help the society in the various ways I could possibly be in a position to by giving back services that are deserved. My switch from insurance to nursing is also a major achievement as finally I will be working where is most comfortable and in the profession I desired most. But still, I have a long journey ahead of me, this include joining of American Nurses Association to expose myself to the real world as those have always been my target area of practice.
Need of further exposure and learning is needed for me to advance my career to the level I desire. These are the major gaps hindering me from attaining my full potential, with the steps am taking, I see myself advancing at a better rate. Exposure comes with dedication and sacrifice of a lot of time and resources which I have laid down to see my career progress (Turner, 2007). I have plans to attend various seminars and conferences about nursing to gain further inspiration and tips of to how I can advance my career into the right direction.
With the recognizing of my achievement and gaps on my career path, I have finally set my way forward to the full achievements of my goals as well achievements of my goals. This can only be achieved through the following of my career development plan.
