I strongly believe that obesity can be genetic, therefore, can be inherited from parent to child. However, parents can regulate it in their children by giving them plenty of exercise and proper diets. Cases of obesity in children are on the rise and have hit headlines of everyday news (Langwith, 2013). I believe that obesity is real in today’s society. Besides diet and genetic, obesity can also be caused by some of the environment factors. Parents do not understand that weight gain might lead to severe clinical obesity.
The topic of obesity is debatable since it is very educative and tries to inform causes, nature, solution, control and prevention of obesity. The best target audiences are supposed to be parents since they are the caretakers of children. Parents are supposed to know the day-to-day development and growth of children (Smith, 1999). Parents must realize that when children consume more calories than they spend, they tend to gain weight. Parental decisions have been discovered to have an impact on childhood obesity.
There have been drastic changes in the society for more than a decade. Due to advancement in technology, children tend to remain indoors playing computer games and watching TVs. This has made children to be lazy, therefore, reducing their daily activities of doing exercise. Most parents have a perception that obesity is the accumulation of excess body fats (Langwith, 2013).
However, they are supposed to know that obesity is when energy intake exceeds energy expenditure in our bodies. In a society, obesity can be prevented by maintaining balanced-diet, as well as taking regular physical exercise. The proper decisions made by parents will help to lower the increasing rates of obesity (Smith, 1999).
