Over the years, there have been three games played at home that have not only remained popular but also gained prevalence. These are board games, backyard games and card games.
Card games have continued to be common in many homes. With an ordinary batch of cards, hundreds of games can be played. Among them are canasta, bridge, whist and rummy. Bridge tops the list of the most popular card games after Omar Sharif, a prominent movie star, gave it a popular advertisement on nationwide syndicated talk shows and in his latest book. This constructive endorsement of the game has brought attention to the game and many people have found themselves developing a desire to keep on playing bridge. Rummy and Canasta have always been considered affixes of the card-playing crowd, predominantly in the northern climates where people are at home during the winter months. The popularity of these cards games has been increasing overtime and it is highly acclaimed for its important and healthy function of creating the feeling of togetherness. Additionally, it is anticipated that people will continue developing interest in card games notwithstanding the increasing dominance of other games.
Another very popular game played at home is Board game. It is particularly very common with the typical American families. At the market, there are currently many board games that include Clue, chess, Chinese, Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly and Checkers. As a board game, Clue has been so prosperous that it has been made into a video game to make it easy and readily available to individuals wanting to play it. In countries such as Canada, monopoly is their standard board game. People consider at a very important game in supplementing their happiness in life. Board games remain common and a style of entertainment that is a favorite to many families.
Backyard games culminate the list of home games that have remained popular overtime. Baseball and touch football are played in virtually every backyard or vacant lot near homes. A great number of homes occupied by children have a basketball hoop somewhere in or near the buildings. However, baseball is continuously gaining popularity and it is anticipated to soon be a favorite to most children and grown-ups. The games appeal to family closeness and maintain the notion of body fitness.
It is apparent that games played at home will continue to remain popular for an unknown period. These games provide a healthy release of frustrations, aid in accepting sportsmanship and promote a healthy competition among family members. Through the games, younger players learn to accept that there is winning and losing. Older players learn to consider how the game is played and not necessarily the aspect of winning or losing.

Desktop Computers are also known as personal computers. It is the most common type of microcomputer. The machine can stand alone and is effectively used by placing it on a desk. Desktops are cheap as compared to other microcomputers. It is suited for the needs of small business organizations and for domestic use by single users. Laptops are popularly known as Notebook Computers. Despite having all the features of a desktop computer, they are small in size and highly portable. It can therefore be put in small bags or briefcases and carried anywhere. Alternatively, it has a battery backup that boosts its performance by ensuring that the machine does not run out of power promptly. This makes it possible for the machine to be used even away from homes or offices. As compared to the desktop computers, laptops are slightly more valuable hence expensive.
Another kind of microcomputer that is becoming common is the Netbook. They are notebooks that have been reduced in size to reduce its weight and cost. It is basically used for opening web-based applications. The earliest was produced in late 2007 and gained considerably popularity within the first few months after its production. With a Netbook, one can access and enjoy various activities such as instant messaging, emailing, streaming movies and games. Its popularity has highly been enhanced by the various improvements that have been witnessed in network.
A smart Phone is a cellular phone that can perform the functions performed by a personal computer and a mobile phone. Most of them have a small keyboard for data input while a few uses a stylus pen. The device can wirelessly be connected to the internet. Most people who own Smart Phones use them to play games, access emails and download music. Among the common manufacturers of the device are HTC, Nokia, Blackberry and LG.
A handheld computer is a small computer regularly held on top of the palm. It is also known as PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). PDA do not use keyboard for input but instead uses a stylus pen. However, the device does not have a disk drive. Its memory is not only less powerful but also very limited. Through wireless connection, the device can easily connect to the internet. Common global manufacturers of PDAs include Apple and Casio.
The Americans
The Americans are a very unique group of people. Their nation is peculiar than any other nation on earth. America has a population composed of different types of people that make the nation so unique. Despite having various kinds of people, the nation has still been able to maintain the spirit of togetherness and national coherence that has largely contributed to the economic prowess of the nation. Americans can basically be placed into 3 groups. The groups are the violence-oriented, the sports-oriented and the sex-oriented.
Astonishingly, many Americans are mad of sports. It is not uncommon to see them rushing to athletic stadiums during the weekends and whenever they get a chance to do so in the mid of the week. During these sports, they consume lots of popcorns and hot dogs to add onto their excitement while at the same time watching the game. Those who do not have the opportunity to be at the stadium take an extra initiative and watch the sporting events on their television sets. However, other than just watching the sporting events, they also play them. They flock the fields playing football, basketball and baseball. With the current popularity of sports, many Americans are continuously developing interest in sports.
The second type of Americans is that of people who are violence-oriented. They simply love violence. This group of Americans thrives on violence in the media. They enjoy reading newspaper articles that are dominated by wars, riots and crimes. It is also common for them to enjoy horrible experiences of assault and rape. Surprisingly, this group of people accepts their status and most of them appear to be comfortable with their condition. On television, this group enjoys watching programs that are filled with violence. This might be the reason why violent entertainment programs have really been prosperous in the US. At times, the violence-oriented people find themselves being attracted to sports: especially those that are full of violence activities. Among them is rugby. They enjoy the bruising in football, wrestling and other violent athletic activities.
Besides liking sports and violence, a good number of Americans are interested in sex. This group spends half of their entire lifetime enjoying sex propaganda. Whenever they turn on their televisions or computers, they always look for programs which have actors and actresses who are dressed in swim suits that reveal most parts of their bodies. When the television fails to satisfy their sexual voids, they turn to porn movies, pornographic magazines or any other pornographic texts that can help them achieve their desires for sexual satisfaction. To sexually oriented people, pornographic movies are a priority need that they must so strongly strive to meet. However, not many Americans like being associated with this group. Nevertheless, the fact remains that the group exists and are too important in the American society.
Despite the above diversity, Americans are still a united people who are destined for greater success. They value their nation and place the interests of the nation before individual interests. This is the reason why America has been able to contain the disparities that exist within its border. However, many people might find it hard to believe that such disparities exist in America.
