Collegiate Activities
While in college, many students involve themselves in different extracurricular activities since they form the key to personal development and play a pivotal role in collegiate activities. Involvement in extracurricular activities is not only for entertainment but for social and enjoyment purposes and above all, to gain and improve skills (Kuh, 1995).
All the executive members met 2 times a week, 3 hours per meeting, a total of 24 hours in a month.
Responsibilities
Organizing for different activities within the campus related to students, provision of discussion forums related to student issues.
Assist in building a sustainable and successful campus life.
The organization consisted of 6 executive members and 15 other members elected by students from the main campus and 3 other campuses. The main campus accounted for 50% of the vote count in while other campuses accounted for 20% of the vote count.
April 2007 to March 2008. Chairperson in the College Environmental Management organization club.
Responsibilities
Coordinating members in different projects and catering for their trips.
Educating the community
Attending various meetings on environmental matters and delivering the communicated message to members.
The organization consisted of 300 members. The position was through election by the organization members.
May 2006 to December 2009: Member of campus Athlete organization from, where I acted as the event organizer.
Duties:
The organization members represented the college in all athletic competitions;
The organizer prepared a timetable for all the upcoming events and acquired the necessary documents and materials from the college administration.
The organization gave an opportunity for all college athletes to participate in sports they enjoyed.
There were 100 members, among which, the sports department appointed 5 executive members as leaders.
April 2007 to May 2008: Member of college dancing club. The organization named Extreme Dancers had 20 members.
The main activities included
Performing at various campus functions, holding competitions with dancing groups from other campuses
Performing during various campaigns, which included drugs awareness and HIV Aids campaigns.
Organizing for meetings and different competitions throughout the entire term which lasted from. The organization also offered the students an opportunity to demonstrate their dancing abilities.
The membership for the club was voluntary with a monthly subscription fee of $ 2.00.
Post-Collegiate Activities
After completing my college education, I joined some organizations some of which I am still a member. These activities are:
Participation is 10 hours every week.
Responsibilities:
Organizing youth meetings
Requesting for funds from government and other institutions
Recruiting of new members
The group has a membership of 200 people. The members elect a chairperson through a secret ballot.
February 2011 to August 2011: Secretary: St Stephens Catholic Church
Participation is 5 hours per week
Responsibilities
Writing minutes for all church meetings
Liaising with other committee members on issues related to church growth
Organizing different meetings related to church and the parish at large
Leading prayers during church proceedings
The bishop with the help of church members appoints the secretary.
Participation is 5 hours per day
Responsibilities
Teaching students during evening classes
Marking exams set by senior teachers
Holding weekly duties
Leading students in the Scouts club
