Introduction
I attended a live performance of student composers’ concert, which was held on the May 2, 2012 at 8:00pm, in Julien J. Studley Theatre. I personally decided to attend this concert because I wanted to support my friends and my former schoolmates. I also wanted to share with their talents in the music field, and also it was one of the best time out. After having such a long tiresome week of working all through, I found this opportunity as a leisure time and I wanted to have fun outside the usual work routine. I was so much amazed to hear some of the best pieces of music composed by people I know. I like music in the basis of listening, but when it comes to composing, it is out of my expertise, leave alone live stage performance.
I was so very much encouraged by the fact that students presented well standard inspirational music pieces. I also liked the fact that the venue was well arranged thanks to the organizers, and also the hall was full to capacity. This made it even more lively and interesting to hear that the performer’s friends and acquaintances were invited in large numbers. It really made me feel that the composers and the performers were being highly appreciated. I was invited by my best friend who also requested me to accompany four more to the number. I could say that I did a very tough job to convince my friends to avail themselves for the concert. Most of them are not used to such live performances, and they work fulltime.
The entrance charges were fair so there were no hustles at all. I and my friends were very luck since we were located at the V.I.P section. We were surprised to find out that my friend had already organized on our sitting area. From this comfortable position we were able to get the best of the performance since we were close to the stage. The first performer was Paul Simpson whose music piece was incredible, the piece that has achieved its name from the 90’s it was so inspiring. The music piece was outstanding thus receive a standing ovation. The energetic smooth vocal singers were amazing, not mentioning the instruments, they were awesome. It was performed by a band known as the Royal Dreamers, consisting of five men and two ladies. Some of the music instruments that were used by the band were: guitar, drums, piano among several others. There was also in the background a beat playing and it synchronized very well with the live performance. The piece was best of the 90’s which reminded me of Brian James music. It was fascinating how they could engage the audience in their performance, while still not losing track. They look very much experienced.
The next piece was a composition of violin by Melvin Paul and Jessica Lane called Painful Love. This music was very relaxing in its nature; it changed the room in to another love mood. The performance was incredible which was very inspiring. The message of the song was about a lover who was forced to end a relationship by his parents, because the girl who he was seeing was from a poor background. The song was very touching that my girlfriends started shedding tears. After the end of the performance there was a short brake followed by a standup comedy which left our ribs cracking. The night was followed with several other performances until the end of the concert at around 10:30pm, when we left the premises. It was a great night to remember.
