The current reading offers critical insights on the manner in which consumers have developed an increased preference for restaurants that offer healthy foods, and nutrition information on the foods they serve. In fact, consumers deem such restaurants to be socially responsible because they address the concerns of their customers. I concur with the notions contained in the current reading in that I often have a fascinating admiration for restaurants that offer healthy diets and nutrition information regarding their diets. There is various reason as to why I patronize restaurants that provide nutritional information and healthy foods. More importantly, I adore such restaurants because they let me know the nutrient content of their foods. This allows me to make adequate decisions on the diet that is appropriate for me (Edlin & Golanty, 2009).
On a similar note, I patronize such restaurants because they play a reciprocal role in reducing cases of obesity, which have been on the rise in the recent past. When restaurants provide nutritional information, they inform their customers on high fat foods, which have been linked to obesity. In addition, I patronize such restaurants because they offer a comprehensive platform where people suffering from certain conditions such as diabetes, and hypertension can manage their conditions. Precisely, restaurants that provide nutritional information to such customers help them choose diets that are appropriate for their diseases (Culinary Institute of America, 2008). As an example, diabetic customers who visit such restaurants get information on the sugar content of foods. This makes it easier for such clients to choose foods low in sugar, which help them manage their diabetes.
In a nutshell, health is a crucial concern for various populations. Notably, nutrition plays a critical role in enhancing an individual’s overall health and wellbeing. For this purpose, restaurants that offer healthy diets and nutritional information are likely to be preferred by customers because they provide a viable platform that allows them to choose nutritionally adequate diets that enhance their health.
