Today printing technology has advanced to the level of full automation. This is evidence with digital printing technology emerging that is capable of not only producing an entire newspaper but fold it as well. One of the latest developments in printing is the Xeikon 8000 which is capable of producing approximately 8.5 million pages every month. With such capability, it requires a single operator. Dye-sublimation printing is the technology preceded the Xeikon 8000 one. It produced high-quality photo prints, combining three color panels with a clear overcoat to transfer heat to a ribbon and emerged in the mid-1990s. The printer made a photo printout every 2.5 minutes which was about twice faster than its predecessor. With the number of individuals required in printing reduced, the cost incurred in the printing process is decreasing at a very high rate. A printing business will highly cut down on the cost it incurs on personnel. The reduction further translates to an increase in profit margins realized by the printing companies. With the elimination of commands used for printing by the operator and its replacement with automation means that tasks performed in a faster and accurate manner.
Differences between Offset and Digital Printing
Offset printing is a type of printing technology that produces a print image on polyester, metal plate or even paper and then transfers from the plate to a rubber blanket and then finally to the printing surface that may be in the form of paper. This process operates by repulsion of water and oil. Digital printing reproduces first generation images directly from the computer which uses inkjet cartridges, some form of ink or even using a toner. Advantages of an offset printer are; it produces high image quality, the cost of production decreases as the quantity increases and pictures generated by these printers are of higher resolution. Additionally, offset presses can produce standard envelopes applications without the need to print the paper and converting it to envelopes. With the case of digital presses, it is possible to have economically low volume printing because the cost of setting up is relatively small. If a customer requires the larger quantity of printouts with a particular ink color and a hard paper space, it is suitable for digital printing. In case, a client needs high-quality black and white printout with two colors only, then offset printing is the best option.
Relationship between while light and color and connection to Newton, Faraday, and Einstein
In most cases we tend to assume that most of the objects that we see have fixed colors. The white color comprises of equivalent amounts of all colors which make it appear more vibrant and natural. However, portions of the color spectrum are more important than others. Sir Isaac Newton set up a prism that was quite near a window and was able to produce a nice range that was 22 feet on the far wall (Newton & Marie, 36). To prove that the prism was not responsible for coloring the light, he used refraction. Through this experiment, he was able to show that color was not as a result of light alone, but rather each complementary color enhanced the other color's effect through contrast. Through this experiment by Newton, it helped Michael Faraday combine light with electricity and magnetism to realize the electromagnetic spectrum. Still by Newton's discovery, James Clerk Maxwell was able to publish a paper that built more on Faraday's discovery of Lines of forces behind the spectrum. Albert Einstein was able to build upon the idea of light, realizing the concept of the quantum theory of light which showed light appears in bundles known as quanta.
Physiology of Signal Processing
Solving the challenge of converting the light signal into ideas is a complex process that may extend far beyond the ability of the world's computers. It starts as soon as the eye focuses the light signal on the retina. The retina contains photoreceptor cells that convert light signals into electromagnetic signals. These electromagnetic signals are made effective by the rods and the cones that both work during the night and the day for better focus. The signals from the photoreceptors then pass through the interneurons which can detect contrast which may either be shadows or edges. Ganglion cells then gather the information passed to them about color and forwarded their output to the brain via the optical nerve center (Hubel, 132). Sex is important to an individual's life as it promotes good health by accelerating blood flow and speeding up metabolism. However, too much sex affects eye vision as it makes one's eye develop the blurry vision which in return can escalate into a severe problem.
Benefits of InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
InDesign has several advantages because of its page layout programs over other existing graphics programs. These include its ability to get up to speed with design as it enables one to work comfortably with its creative features. The software has characteristics that include transparency effects such as blending modes and drop shadows and character styles. It has multiple undo functions that let you reverse the virtually unlimited number of steps depending on the RAM that is available in the system (Foley & James, 98). On the other side, Illustrator also has several benefits that allow it to stand out. It is more flexible which allows one to customize their workspace through space viewing. Secondly, it offers more control over text such as Open Type Fonts. Also, it increases productivity by allowing in-panel alteration and use of alterboards at a particular time. Photoshop, on the other hand, is beneficial in that it is simple to use which makes it easy for the novice users to train themselves. It also saves the user from repeating steps that were done previously by keeping track of the actions already performed. All these three softwares play important roles in graphics enhancement and improvement.
Experience as a volunteer
In my six hour volunteer, I was able to learn how one can combine existing technology to realize better results. The experience with modern presses enabled me to serve the customers efficiently, and I was able to explain to customers on how to choose the best printing machine option as well as help them with the challenges that they face in their printing machines. In a nutshell, I was able to learn that, keeping up to date with the emerging technology is very vital to a company in that it helps the company serve the customers efficiently and avoids hiccups as well.
