Human resources management (HRM) is a profession that has undergone great evolution with major changes occurring in the 21st century. I chose human resources management as my career because of the unlimited opportunities that exists in this profession. Despite the unlimited skills available in the job market, one is not guaranteed to secure employment unless the individual is fully equipped with the relevant qualifications. There are many resources available through which a human resources manager can find potential jobs. Among them are the internet, magazines, newspapers, and social networks among others. In efforts to find employment, I used the internet and the social media. I found the internet to be most appropriate because most organizations are technologically savvy and employ the internet because it is the most cost effective method of job advertising.
In efforts to increase the chances of securing a job in the very competitive market, I intend to get the highest academic qualification in efforts to achieve my career objectives as human resources manger. My motivation to become a HRM began in high school, however, upon completing my bachelor degree, I intend to pursue a master’s degree in HRM and further pursue PhD in the same course. In order to improve my skills and have a sound network with professional in the same career, I intend to be volunteering in local organizations during my vocations. Through that, I shall develop confidence and improve my skills through interacting with the experienced managers and other medical professionals. Therefore I have already prepared my mind that, HRM is my major.
My personality type gives me a great opportunity to succeed in the human resources management career. This is because I am able to deal with diverse problems; I can work under pressure, have great interpersonal skills, am patient and can work with limited supervision. Through these skills, I shall be able to accomplish my tasks without many troubles. For example, the great interpersonal skills will instill confidence with the employees irrespective of their gender, cultural, religious or racial background. That will enable them to open up and provide me with an opportunity to learn about their needs and thus enable them to derive job satisfaction.
Focus inventory has played a key role in choosing my major career because it has offered me with an opportunity to evaluate the available career options and thus make the best decision. Through the focus inventory I have been able to evaluate about my personality, interests and weaknesses. Thus, I can be able to capitalize my strengths while trying to work on my weaknesses. For example, my decision making skills and group management as a team leader is among my one my strengths that are a prerequisite for human resources managers. Among the weakness that I need to work on is time management skills.
As a human resources manager, I shall be able to achieve my career goal because the profession offers many opportunities across the business world. The human resources are the most valuable assets in an organization; therefore, my success to manage the human resources will result to success of the organization. Well managed human resources will result to satisfied employees whose productivity will be high. Therefore, the success of my career will be evaluated in respect to the performance of my organization and the level of motivation of the human resources.
