The choice of place is a salon. It in a building located in a busy street, in a town. It has bright and warm colors from the outer impression. There are figures of ladies in different hair styles drawn and displayed on the front window. As you draw nearer you will identify the small notice board with the specialties in terms of services being offered inside the facility. On the front door, there are some flowers and a welcome sign to usher you in. One you get it, the smell that welcomes you in full of a sweet smell. In the background, some soft blues song can be heard. You get disrupted by the sound of the hair dryers being switched on and already blowing some hair. Inside as well is decorated with flowers and bright warm colors on the walls.
The general feeling on its environment is warm and very welcoming. A number of ladies and a few men can be seen being attended to. Handful gents are also seen working on the various clients present in this place. The main objective is evidently identified hair and beauty pampering. Individuals come to get the hair, nails, faces and body massages. Their natures of conversations that are being talked in this place are mostly love and relationship related and a debate can be seen being brewed. Some other customers are holding small magazines as they wait for their turn to be served.
This study encompasses social science covering the different aspects gender norm being presented. Gender identity is closely linked with the social behavioural and norms in various communities. The inequality in the gender identities makes it possible for an individual to be restricted into visiting some certain places. It seems that heterosexual also likes to come to such places and get either their hair or nails done.
Basso(41) in his view, in the Western Apache culture the absence of verbal communication was somehow associated with the social situations in the various different statuses of participants and ambiguous they are. In such situation, role expectations are sometimes lost and the illusion of social interactions also gets eroded. The latter seems to be the new norm being adapted in societies and places as the one described above. It is the responsible for the uncertainty and unpredictability as far social relations and norms are concerned.
In adapting this to the daily endeavours and situations, we find ourselves in; keeping silent conflicting situations is an uncomfortable status in various cultures. In that note, the adjournments come in. In order to attract or appear appealing to potential clienteles and individuals measures to promote and articulate a particular norm as far as gender is the big picture. The broader impact of any community or facility and more so on the development of gender norms calls for the incorporating of the gender-focused policies into development policy areas such as the one mentioned earlier in the paper. It also points to broadening the counts of development policy and even economic development . Gender norms in relation to social expectations have some appropriate roles and behaviours expected for both men and women. The general reproduction of the status of norms and practises mentioned in this paper are indeed related to the daily choice of doing things as far as gender norm is the key case (Barkera et.al 539).
