Authenticity in the art refers to the correct identification of an origin of a piece of art, the provenance of a particular object or art, and the authorship. This concept focused on the character of an object as an exact or true reflection or expression of a person or values of the society and their beliefs. Authenticity in art means that the kind of work presented to the audience has a production history, which free from any forgery and plagiarism. In a general point of view, art should mainly major on originality of the work. The best criterion to define authenticity in art is by evaluating the honesty in the originality of the work. This implies that the author is not accused of fraudulent if there exist an honest misidentification of his or her work.
Cultural heritage and artistic traditions expansion have been taking place for many years but the emergence of new technology and the changes in the economy has increased the rate of expansion within different communities globally. Globalization and commercialization has lead to the exploitation of the worker. That is, the multinational organization promotes their consumer culture thus increasing the numbers of commercial products and media that would contribute to the drowning of the local culture heritage. Globalization advocates of the idea of individualism, which create a platform for the homogeneous beliefs and values to set in hence affecting the major role of cultural heritage and artistic traditions. Globalization and commercialization has created by aware of the existence of diverse cultural practice and innovative artistic designs. This has therefore improved the entire culture set up and motivated the artistic tradition within the different life aspect (Boudreaux, 2008).
Cultural heritage and artistic traditions survive globalization and commercialization through the establishment of a sensitization program that has enabled a specific group to develop strategies that would safeguard and maintain their cultural practices and the artistic traditions. The groups should have their priorities in matters concerning the well being and preservation of their cultures and work of art for the benefit of the other generations. In a commercialization perspective, cultural heritage and artistic tradition should ensure that they operate a well define commercial activities that would mainly have a positive impact to its existence. It is also very fundamental for the cultural heritage to take into consideration the role it plays globally. It facilitates the survival process since it makes most of the costumers both local and international to safeguard their practices and idea for art traditions (Fine, 2004).
There has been evident that the changes of the physical artifacts and the cultural practices have an impact in a smooth and conducive globalization process. The preserved cultural practices and artifacts have been modified to suit the present cultures for instance; the new technology has led to the development of modern design of the artistic tangible structures. These include construction of buildings and monuments that are more complex. Globalization is believed to have contributed to the discovering of a variety of writing styles that changed the artistic traditions (Donohue, 2009)
This change has shifted the group’s attention away from their cultural practice. The changes are eliminating the cultures and traditions of the society replacing them with the western culture. It therefore implies that the people preserve cultures are drowning. This practice received a negative response from the society opposing to the idea of western individualism.
