Homework 4
Forceful rape refers to the use of power, anger and sadism to have the carnal knowledge of a female without her consent. Rape cases in the United States are underreported in the United States due to various reasons. First of all, the sexual assault is seen as a very indecent act. In fact, sexual assault is more of an abomination to many people especially the Christian families. Secondly, some rape victims fear reporting their cases on the basis that the criminal justice system not easily accept and believe them. This fear is further embedded on the fact that the victim will be blamed of failing to avoid the rape.
Different types of rape should receive different degree of legal action. However much it is anonymously acceptable that rape is a very serious crime, some rape cases may be mild before the legal justice systems. The perception that the victims had the powers to avert the occurrence of such incidences is misleading. For instance, it is a little bit hard to believe date rape cases since in most cases only perpetrator of the crime and the victim may be present at the scene. Murder involves the termination of one’s life. Irrespective of the means used to commit this crime, I do believe that murder remains murder and should be treated from a similar legal platform. In fact, when a person kills a stranger, it should even sound worse to give such an individual less legal sanctions. Worse still, murder of a wife is one of the bloodiest acts to commit in our society. A wife is closest to the husband and he should not even contemplate killing her. When such cases occur, the murderer should even get a capital punishment. What feeling can such a personal have to grant mercy to someone not closely related to him? This means that he can mercilessly murder a foreigner. Death ends in the same place: grave.
In my home city, there are no cases of criminal gangs that terrorized the city residents. However, there is a culture of violence and fights that lead any people to committing various forms of crimes. As Siegel states that there is much association between cultural values and crime or violence, many people especially the youth feel protected by their culture to commit violence in their urban settings.

Master trait that human beings possess from birth may have little contribution of an individual. As children grow, their environment presents a lot of options that shape his or her behavior. These children therefore have the will to pick, adopt and use options that best suit their preferences. Psychologically, human traits and behavior can be molded through various theories of learning. In this regard therefore, the environment in which an individual hails from is a key determinant in criminology of an individual. People who an individual relate with plays a very important role in shaping his or her moral and ethical upbringing. Similarly, the kind of media a person consumes also greatly influences a person’s association with criminology. For instance, individuals who are exposed to violent media materials such as violent movies and video clips can readily commit a crime.
Every human society embraces brotherhood since no man or woman is an island. In simple terms, human beings do interact on a daily basis and through this social capital can become realistic. Some of the criminal in our society have changed and abandoned their criminal activities after fostering and maintaining positive relations with people and organizations. These good relations have made realize and appreciate their self worth leading to their dissociation with criminal activities. For instance, when criminals get married they gain a very special position in the society that accords him or her more respect. In general, establishment of social bonds and social capital through marriage and good employment opportunities reduces likelihood to perennial crime and violence in an individual.
