Introduction
Illegal immigration means migration towards a country in against to immigration laws and government permission of that country or stay beyond visa expiry date. Illegal immigration causes many economic, social, and political issues and has become one of the most challenging issues for most of developed countries. U.S have many illegal immigrants coming from all around the world. Most of Illegal immigrants comes from Mexico, the U.S and Mexico border's length is almost 3,169 km. It is also most frequently used international border in the world. Illegal immigrants uses these border areas and sneak into U.S for a better future.
Identification of the issue
United States worldwide proved to be highly desirable destination for illegal immigrants. These Illegal immigrants have to face many challenges in the motherland so they move to developed countries such as US and hope for a better and optimistic future. Once they get into migration countries, they realize as they came here against the migration laws, they might not got many opportunities for work as compare to legal migrators. If a person come to U.S with a valid visa but live here after the expiry of his visa, he is also counted as illegal immigrant. Many US citizens believe that these illegal immigrant poses a burden on the US government while some believe that they are contributing much to US economy by providing low cost labor. Another issue related to these illegal immigrants is that they are draining U.S economy by sending remittances to their own countries. Mexican border is a long border and government have taken many steps to seal it still most of illegal immigrants comes to U.S through Mexican border. The main reason behind these illegal immigration is that it is much harder for a person to get legal immigration to U.S. and come here with legal status. Another issue is that some legal immigrants come on study visa and after completion of study their visas will expired, so they need to leave U.S but they know that they got a better future in U.S as they got more opportunities and after expiry of visa they live here as illegal immigrants. These students become a factor of increasing the total number of illegal immigration to United States. American Immigration Lawyers Association also acknowledges that, “99.9 percent of the people who come here illegally do so because there’s no path for them to come here legally”.
Possible solution
Illegal immigrants are as much valuable to U.S economy as legal immigrants. So what should U.S government do to face this issue? As it is a challenge for U.S economy U.S government should give these illegal immigrants status of temporary legal immigrants and give them full right to work in any organization on the merit basis so that these immigrants will be documented part of U.S economy and will be playing a key role in U.S economy by providing cheap labor in low skill jobs. This status of temporary legal immigrants should be given to those illegal immigrant those are not involve in any kind of criminal activities. After a time period of at least three years these temporary legal immigrants with positive track record should be given a legal immigrants status. By giving them a legal status it will help them to have a future in U.S rather than sending remittances to their homeland which will help in balancing U.S economy. These illegal immigrants are important part of U.S economy and should be granted same facilities by U.S government which is their right after been legal immigrants. To reduce the number of Mexican crossing Mexican border illegally, government should work with Mexican government and allow to use some bordered areas as industrial states where Mexican workers could work, this will help U.S to compete with low cost labor of china. We can conclude in saying that future immigration policy of U.S. should recognize these illegal immigrants has a positive and significant impact on the US economy markets. U.S government should take actions to legalize these immigrants as it is almost impossible for U.S law enforcements agencies to completely stop these illegal immigrants for coming to U.S.
