Speech for debate
Government information and secrets are of great importance to the welfare of both the country and those of other countries. Government information and secrets should therefore be kept confidential and private so that unauthorized parties will not have access to it. Individuals who leak classified government private and confidential information should be prosecuted for treason and charged in the courts of law. Those who leak the confidential government information because this act will expose the country to dangers of terror attacks in cases where the terrorists get access to the information concerning the intelligence and security services of the country( Castle,2012). This act will therefore amount to treason and betrayal of our country. The traitors should therefore be prosecuted in order to discourage other individuals from releasing sensitive information to the public without the consent of the government.
Leaking of private and confidential government information also have an impact with respect to the foreign affairs. When classified government information is leaked it may have a negative effect on the relation between the US and the other country concerned especially if the information leaked is against the policies of that country. The individuals who leak such information should therefore be prosecuted for treason in order to secure the relationship of our country with others such that the business operations will run normally and peacefully (Estulin, 2012).
The leaking of government information may also leads to loss of trade secrets and business ideas thereby making the country make big losses in the world of trade. The individuals who leaks private information should therefore be prosecuted for treason in order to discourage release of such information without consent of the government (Madar, 2013).
In conclusion, private and confidential government information should not be released without the permission of the government in order to avoid both insecurity attacks and negative economic impact. The individuals who leak such confidential information should be prosecuted for treason in order to protect the welfare of the nation.
