As a nursing professional, it is not only my responsibility, but also a passionate desire to render service for the improvement of the underserved communities. I believe it is my professional obligation to exhibit an absolute commitment towards taking care of the populations in need of physical and psychological assistance. This is not a secret that underserved populations are a neglected area as health care workforce tend to sway away from these communities due to lack of resources and promotional opportunities. The cultural atmospheres and diminutive salary increases while serving underserved communities also make healthcare professionals switch to other areas. However, I have not joined this noble profession for monetary purpose. In fact, I have a passion to make a difference in peoples’ lives and offer more equity among healthcare. I am sure that the NURSE Corps Scholarship would give me an opportunity to work selflessly for improving the health conditions of underserved communities. If the truth is told, I would gladly undertake any responsibility to work in a critically short healthcare facility and contribute to benefit the destitute and impoverish populations. I believe that it is excessively important to meet the health and patient care standards on a universal basis. Making significant changes require small steps. By helping undeserved communities, I am looking forward to play my role and involve within the respective community to make it a better place for all members.
The Nurse Corps Scholarship Program is undoubtedly one of the major platforms that could facilitate me in offering valuable services to the underserved populations through the provision of more evenhanded and unbiased health care service. Major issues facing the underserved populations may be rectified if healthcare professionals become more understanding, compassionate, and perceptive. As an individual, I am prepared to serve my fellow beings with absolute honesty and dedication reflecting the mission statement of the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program “to improve health and achieve health equity through access to quality services, a skilled health workforce and innovative programs” (“About HRSA”).
