The nursing profession is emerging as a leading one, and the role of the profession into the society is going to get important extensively into the future because the diseases will only grow both in intensity and scope during the days to come (Esterhuizen, 2006, 108). However, there are many competencies those one needs to survive in the industry of healthcare but two of them are having an elite stature as without those behavioral aspects, the image of a nurse gets blurred.
The nurse has to develop leadership abilities in order to take difficult decisions in the face of atrocity and adversity. She must exactly know what to do in a certain critical situation, and she must have the knowledge that can help her in prioritizing the options. The most applicable one would have to be implemented. The leadership has two dimensions in this regard. The first one operates in order to regulate the attitude and behavior of the nurse that she ought to exhibit to manage a situation that would result in loss of life.
Secondly, she has to extrinsically motivate the patient by pouring a belief into him or her that he or she can suffer through this, and the shouting and constant communication in the pretext of saving a life can create positive emotions, and the personal deterrence of a sufferer would improve, and this development can create a difference of life and death (Tagney & Haines, 2009, 486). Thirdly, the nurse would need computer to assist doctors as well. The nurse does not have to get under the influence of emotions, and she has to manage resources during an emergency by selecting those patients who have the chances of survival, and the professional cannot mourn over the dead ones.
