There are several strategies that will be used to market the Let’s Move Tonga Style project to the local population. One of the strategies will involve partnering with allies (Newlands, 2015). The allies will include the people of Tonga who realize that obesity is a big problem and are keen on eliminating it. Such people will be very useful in trying to influence the local population to participate in the project activities. It will be easier for the people of Tonga to participate in the project if they see some of their own people mobilizing the project. The locals will hold the opinion that the project is for their own benefit and that it is tailored to meet their specific needs.
A second marketing strategy to be used in this project is collaboration with people who have great influence. The project will be a success if we can get some influential people in Tonga to support the project. People have a tendency to listen and follow influential leaders (Newlands, 2015). Some may follow influencers due to the great admiration they have for them.
Allowing the people of Tonga to interact with the project team will make them enthusiastic about eradicating obesity. They will be interested in participating in the activities outlined by the project, and bringing in more people. They will also be willing to spread information about the project to their friends and families. The passing of positive information to many people can yield the expected results.
Finally, another marketing strategy that will enable this project to succeed is the use of social media. Some popular social media platforms include Facebook and Twitter. Social media enables people to exchange information over a wide network. The participants can share information about the project with their friends and distant relatives over the social media platforms. A wide network of people will be educated on the dangers of obesity and the role of proper nutrition in the promotion of good health.
