One nation, slightly divisible
The article, One Nation, slightly divisible, is a vivid description of what America as a country is. Well the country is not in any sense divided, but the way of life and the perception of life issues in rural and urban America are rather different.
According to the article, the rural America otherwise referred here as the red America, has a more conservative perception of life than the urban America or the blue America. People in red America apparently live on farms and small towns while people in the blue America are modernized and live in big cities.
The article continues to point the differences in the way of life between this two social divides in the same country. People in red America are more religious based on the numerous churches that don their neighborhoods. Blue America is on the hand infiltrated with restaurants and bars and business premises and has very few churches.
This article is in way trying to show the different ways of life apparent in the rural and urban America. This is in most cases in people’s minds as both think they are better than their counterparts. Red America people are considered conservative and traditionalists who are do not want to change. They are even considered to be racist evident of the labor they accrue from foreigners for their farms. Blue America people on the other hand are considered to be an immoral society with their liberal views, allowing evil deeds to prevail in the society. They are also considered anti religious and are kind of condemned.
Taking a closer look though, there isn’t much difference between the people living in the urban and those living in the rural areas. There is gayism and lesbianism in the religious rural folk just as there is in the urban America. People in rural America still frequent the local pubs for a beer or two and there is prostitution just like in urban America. The only difference between these two societies is that the rural America people have stronger social ties as they mostly live together their entire lives while there are no social ties in the urban America as people come and go about their businesses.
