The video entitled Organizational Leadership provided crucial points that focus on emphasizing that for organizations to succeed, leaders must be able to ensure that all members of the organization clearly understand and work collaborately towards achieving their explicitly defined vision. The speaker, John Branstad of Leadership by Design was effective in emphasizing this facet. Leadership by Design was disclosed as an organization directly involved in professional leadership development and is currently located in Plymouth, Minnesota . Likewise, Branstad also stressed that the essence of organizational leadership is the fact that organizations must have a compelling vision which should be articulated clearly and forcefully . Concurrently, the management tool of strategic planning was also noted to be an instrumental contributor to providing and designing strategies that would direct the organization towards implementing the courses of action which would assist in achieving defined goals.
Overall, the speaker stressed that relevance of clearly and explicitly establishing a vision statement as the framework for organizational development. Leaders would be most effective in providing directions and guidelines to their subordinates when, at the onset, the vision or direction that the company intends to pursue is clearly understood by all members of the organization. Thus, the importance of human resource management in the facet of organizational development falls primarily in ensuring that the vision statement is explicitly designed, defined, communicated, and clearly understood. As emphasized, the Leadership by Design would be able to assist organizations in clearly defining “their vision, then implement and articulate their strategic plan to drive results” .
