The term perceived benefit of an action simply refers to the anticipated positive results which impact from a health behavior. It is a very important concept which if applied, can tremendously lead to a reduction of risks which may be associated with a medical behavior. Since the environmental conditions in which people live cause a lot of medical challenges, everyone has to be cautious not to be so much susceptible to lots of risks. They can jeopardize life if not properly addressed (Potter, P.A. & Perry, A.G., 2006).
In this regard, it is paramount for everyone to make rational decisions which can be of benefit to their health. They should be done in a right manner so as to help minimize the chances of such risks. For instance, youth should be careful not to engage in indiscriminate unprotected sexual intercourse. Instead, they should always be keen to consistently and correctly use condoms. It can be a beneficial decision since it can help protect them from contracting dangerous Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) such as gonorrhea, syphilis and even HIV/AIDS.
Conclusively, perceived benefit is beneficial to all the people. Comprehension of a medical condition can be essential in making well informed decisions. Many people have risked their lives as a result of the misleading decisions they have made. However, it should be upon each and every person to be conscious enough not to risk their lives, but to make beneficial decisions which can make a contribution not only to them, but also to others (Polit, D.F. & Beck, C.T., 2000). For example, the decision to use a condom during sexual intercourse can help protect the life of an individual and also prevent them from spreading STDs, if any, to their sexual partners.
