Poem analysis is usually done according to the author’s perspective. The analysis of the poem is done to project the real motive behind the author’s piece of art. When analyzing a poem, there are two approaches that are applicable. One focuses on the outer view of the poem which uses the actual view and characters used by the author. The second approach looks at the poem in an angle of the author’s sentiments. In this paper I will review three poems; Mountain Boomer, Bodacious and Firetread The Last. The three poems have almost similar themes but with different writing strategies. The three poems have used great depths of imagery and illusion. The authors of the poems had a heroic theme in mind while creating the pieces of arts. A bravery story line could be developed from the three poems. In the construction of an analysis of the three poems, the theme of bravery should be a compulsory additional. Just like many heroic poems, the poems have characters that represent a hero in the storyline. This paper will highlight the major differences and similarity between the three poems. It will compare and contrast between the three novels. The analysis will feature the setting, the style used and the content derived from the lines. Additionally, the will be an analysis of the sentimental depth the poem has to a reader.
In the first poem, Mountain Boomer, the piece revolves around portrayed individual with an aim to defeat an enemy. The imagery used in the poem depicts the main character as a hero with the motive of destroying a being that may cause harm to him. The confrontation is described as dangerous that the character may come out as the looser of the duel. The rivalry between two enemies is old enough to create a depth of anticipation the feud. The setting of the poem is not a predicted location. The duel is underway in a neutral place and it was coincidental. The poet of this piece gives his hero a description as the likely winner of the duel. He praises his character and prowess when it came to fighting and achieving their goals and objectives. The poet also portrays the duel as a one chance opportunity to destroy the rival. At the end of the confrontation there would a lasting victory for the winner.
The second poem, Firetread The Last, is also a hero based poem. The hero character in this poem is a bitter person since his rival has been the cause of all his troubles. This particular hero is a community hero. He has the mandate of delivering his community from the wrath of dinosaurs. The difference between the size of the hero and the villain creates a perfect illusion of a perfect duel with high reward. In the poem, the dinosaurs were the biggest threat to the existence of human beings. The existence of this creature was a nightmare to the human beings. The relationship had no description of peace. The hero in the poet had to be given a character with more than just power of defeating a beast. He had to have a perfect driving force towards his goal. A high rewards that would ensure his prosperity in the battle field. At first he was afraid and had no intention of attacking the beats. However, after a dinosaur killed member of his family, the hero’s driving force was created. Particularly, the death of his mother made him more passionate about redeeming his community from the flames of the dinosaurs. The author of the poet provided his main character with an easy win over the dinosaur. This gave the victor a wish that he could face another beast. The poem is created under the theme that a man is capable of defeating any other creature if provided with the right motivation or driving force. The relationship between the main character and his mother is described in the best way possible. Her death was hard felt across the whole community. The termination of this particular character brings about a generta tone of the poem. Is is different general overview of feeling in the poem.
The third novel, Bodacious, has the same setting and theme as the other two poems. The difference in this particular poem is that there is no particular spoken hero. The poem revolves around a physical activity. Bull riding is referred to as sport: a sport where the interested parties face a great risk of death or fatal injuries. In this particular poem, the sport is not portrayed in any other form as its real picture. The poem voices the fatal description of the sport. The main character in this piece is a bull rider. On one particular day, he faces off with an angry bull. In this duel the bull was victorious as the character is driven to injury and fatality on the back of the bull. Since the start of the poem, the dangerous sport is given a worrying depiction. The character is also given the depiction of an expert in this particular sport. However, the bull gets the proper depiction of hero. The bull is described as the fiercest bull that ever existed in the arena. Any challenger to this hero ends up with broken bones. Different from the other two poems, humans are placed second after the beast. The tone in the poem is full of praise to the bull. This brings out the heroic character of the beast.
In analyzing the three poems, there as much difference as there are similarities. The similarities in the three poems range from arrangement, theme, motive and character description. It is evident that the tree poems have a common setting which focuses on heroism. The display of this character is explained through duels. Each poem has a form of duel in which a hero has to emerge victorious. The hero is also given a rich history before the duel begins. For instance, the poem the mountain boomer describes the hero as the most significant being in his community. His presence in his community provides security to the whole community. The poem Firetread The Last also has a depiction of a hero with rich history. The hero in this piece has a lot on his shoulder to burden. His existence is governed by his will to deliver his community from the dinosaurs. This is then fulfilled in the most effective way. Bodacious portrays its hero as masterpiece. The masterpiece is an animal which is always depicted as a slave to the human. However, this case is different. The bull has no existing challenger that could end his prowess in the arena. It could be delivered that the three poems had a common setting and objective to put across. The celebration of heroes in the three poems is similar in every way.
Another similarity in the three poems is that there is the inclusion of battle: a battle that ends with the victor getting acknowledgement. The duel in all poems acts like a climax to a claim of prowess from a hero. This factor has been used to prove that the heroes are not falsely celebrated. The authors describe the battles as a final step to superiority. A step that determines who gets the title of the hero. Before the hero is proclaimed the challengers must be exhausted. The hero is depicted as the best in the world. In Bodacious, no one could challenge the bull. In Firetread The Last, there were no left dinosaurs that could challenge the prowess of the hero. In Mountain Boomer, the hero had the option of finishing off the duel with one strike. The authors of the poems created an illusion of a battle for supremacy through significant duels. In the illusion, the heroes were in need of new challengers. They wanted to add more crowns to their title.
The main difference in the three poems is the selection of the hero character. The poem Bodacious differed from the other poems in this factor. In Bodacious, the hero character is depicted in form a beast. This is contrary to the life situation where beasts always play second fiddle to humans. In Mountain Boomer and Firetread The Last, the hero character is depicted by humans. However, the duels in the two poems are not applicable in the real world. But, the illusion created by the duels is imagined by the mind of most people. The fact that the heroes have different physical and mental characters, the authors shared the same thoughts and sentiments towards their supreme creation.
Firetread The Last has a more indulging story than the other two poems. The story line and creation of the poem has more impact to the parties involved and top the people around them. The poem has a great description of human emotion and character. The author incorporated social ties in the heroic poem. It also provided an intense relationship that the other poems did not mention. In Mountain Boomer and Bodacious, the only ties that are described are the ties between the hero and the villain. This fact makes Firetread The Last standout as the most indulging poem in the set.
It is evident that the authors of these three novels had a similar artistic picture during the creation of these pieces. The difference was just in execution and selection of characters which differed in the trio. A reader cannot fail to relate to the significant similarity in the three poems. The three pieces were also able to tell a story in an artistic way. The authors made this influential to capture the attention and interest of the reader.
