In Thailand
Questionnaires are an important survey tool used to collect data from a large number of people. Questionnaires are of many varied types with each having its advantages and disadvantages (Bulmer 124). Questionnaires, in general, have the advantage of being a cheap and efficient way of collecting data without running the risk of skewing information that typically results from observation and direct questioning techniques. A survey on the quality of services offered in Muslim friendly hotels was conducted in Thailand. A questionnaire was prepared according to Likert scale.
Likert scale has the advantage of including a range in which analysts can derive behavior patterns and assess tendencies (Jamieson 68). The scale does not simply require a yes or no answer from the respondent but asks for a choice between ranges of preferences. In a situation where the respondent either agrees or does not agree with a certain statement, there is a choice ranging from strongly and moderately agreeing or strongly disagreeing
A sample of 100 local and foreign Muslim travelers through Thailand was subjected to a questionnaire consisting of structured questions in Likert scale. The respondents are expected to tick an option between 1 and 7. The number scale ranges regarding the level of agreement the respondent feels to the statement. In a situation where the respondent picks 1, it means that they strongly agree with the statement. A value of seven indicates a strong disagreement with the stated statement.
The variables in the questionnaire ranged from the perceived cost of Muslim hotels, perceived security to how well the technology incorporated in the services is received. The questionnaire below is meant to cover as many variables to the study as possible. The integrity of the study is maintained by keeping the participants' personal information confidential. The private information including names and places of residence will be retained in a secure encrypted folder for a year and eventually destroyed.
Questionnaire
This questionnaire consists of nineteen structured statements. The respondent is expected to tick the appropriate box to indicate the degree to which he/she agrees with the declaration. The key is as follows:
1-Strongly agree
2-Agree
3-Somewhat agree
4-Neutral
5-Somewhat disagree
6-Disagree
7-Strongly disagree
The marks should be made clearly at every numbered statement. The respondent should read the statement very carefully before making a choice. If any question is not clearly understood, it should be left blank. The results of this survey will be used to determine the quality of services offered to patrons in Muslim friendly hotels across Thailand.
Thank you for taking your time to finish this survey. Your participation has been most invaluable to further this research. If there are any questions concerning the information given in this study, there will be a phone number and e-mail address given to all the participants in this survey.
