If somebody asks me whether I like to read, my answer will definitely be “Yes”. Since early childhood, reading was my obsession, which I carried with me through all the years. Books have a unique ability to develop your imagination while sinking you into worlds you could not ever think of. Perhaps, that drew my attention to the world of literature, which remain my only consolation.
I got easily absorbed in a book’s plot, and I can spend hours on reading without noticing the flow of time. The richness of places, characters and events always puts me into uplifting frame of mind. Every time I read a new book, it seems to me that I am outliving a completely different life. I associate myself with the protagonist and I try to figure out, what I would do if I somehow appeared to be in the same situation.
However, books are not only the tool for amusement and relaxation. They teach me how to put on somebody else’s shoes and look at the problem from different points of view. Moreover, I often become sort of psychologist while trying to track the motifs of some character’s actions. This is vital for me as I can use these skills in my everyday life.
Books also perpetuate the wisdom of ages. Writings either from antiquity or from modern life are available for me, and I can notice the eternal plots or issues, which tend to appear in books throughout the ages.
