The aim of this paper is to review and summarize the challenges that face the hospitality industry in India. The article explains the contributors of the industrial development from a wide perspective in the field of hospitality. The results of this article are extracted from round table discussions that are held by the senior practitioners. This ensures a balance analysis from the sources that have been published. Some of the challenges discussed include; lack of skilled labor, whereby the workforce in the industry does not offer quality services. Rise in the utility costs is a challenge to the hospitality industry. Other challenges include; high rates of taxation, and capacity building. In India, there are shortages of travel managers, tour guides, and taxi drivers. The cost of land in India has been discussed as a major challenge in the article. The sales and hospitality industry requires land whereby hotels are built to accommodate tourists. The government red tape project of India is a challenge to tourism in India. Hospitality and management industry has its greater focus on the tourists. In India, a hotel project requires more than seventy permits. The government has delayed the process of visa acquisition in India. This has discouraged the tourist activities in India. Through this, the hospitality industry has been affected negatively. However despite the challenges facing the hospitality industry, it is growing at a rapidly.

However, these challenges are not only found in India but also in other countries that have the hospitality and tourism management Industry. The article explains hospitality industry according to the Indian context. Through the article, one is educated on how to handle the challenges in the industry and enhance tourism and hospitality in hotels. This is an educative article. The information in the article is important because it gives data relating to the developments in the hospitality Industry. The implications of development are discussed and analyzed in the article. This information can be used by learners to relate the knowledge to other industries, not only in India but also in other countries. The challenges that face the hospitality industry do not apply only to India. Other countries are faced by similar challenges. Hotel management requires trained personnel with the required qualifications to ensure high quality services to the customers. If the customers are served well, especially the tourists, they will appreciate through visiting the place for a second time. As a hotel manager, I should ensure that the management skills should be appropriate. Hospitality is the most important factor in the hotel industry. Customers rate different hotels according to the level of hospitality that is offered in the hotel. The article on the challenges that face the hospitality industry in India brings out the real picture to the students. This enables the students to work towards finding the appropriate solutions to these challenges. The students are able to improve their managerial skills even after being employed in the industry. The importance of providing skilled personnel as learnt by students is applied in the article.
