The San Marcos Texas City Council meeting was held last April 05, 2016 at San Carlos City Hall. I arrived at the venue at 5:15 p.m., and left at 5:30 p.m. The meeting started at 5:30 p.m. with roll calling, a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. There were about 15-20 attendees at the start of the meeting, but the number increased to about 25-30 people by 6 o’clock.
Agenda 5. The approval of the Ordinance 2016-01 about the establishment of policies concerning the rules and restrictions with regard to the city’s cemetery. The issue includes the provision of limits on casketed burials and cremations, prohibition of mausoleums as well as the repeal of conflicting decrees. What I learned from this meeting is that the local government is keen on working towards serving its constituents better. It revealed how the voice of the majority is taken into consideration when planning for citywide programs.
