In Africa, the underdevelopment experienced in the region has many ties to it social, economic and political status. The societies within Africa are underdeveloped socially because of the culture that they accept as theirs. This culture, as much as it is rich in history, has not allowed the continent to grow. Many people still hold beliefs that will translate into poor economic results. An example is that people are only involved on small scale farming since that is what has been done for ages. Poor food production is experienced throughout the region. The political arena is not left behind in this vicious rut. Politicians who also are elected by the same people lack the skill to pull out their people from this situation and with the heavy corruption that is prevalent among politicians, they would rather have a backward society than have a developed one that will have them punished for their deeds.
Indicators of political development would be freedom of speech, free and fair elections, , education, infrastructure, social amenities, freedom of press and improvement in the legal sector. These are the major building blocks of any society. If the politicians are to improve in this field, they are going to affect the society such that people will be better educated, their health will be improved and the infrastructure will be fertile ground for development.
A reverse wave has not followed because of the big influence the west has on Africa, and again, the social acceptance is slow meaning for such to be experienced, it will take time. Features of a develop mentalist include the tendency of any society to have better placed resources towards the infrastructure of the society.
The main actors for this to happen are the politicians and the businesspeople in the same society. They facilitate the development in these regions.
In Latin America, the tendency for politicians to promise something and not deliver is threatening to pull this part of the world down. Coupled with corruption, poverty is the result that is experienced and therefore underdevelopment.
