Sleep Canada is a Canadian private company specializing in mattresses and it is situated in Orangeville. The company started in 1994, when Christine Magee, Steven Gunn and Gordon Lownds collaborated to open the first Sleep Country in Vancouver. However, by 2001, the company had already opened up 72 stores within six regional markets. It expanded at a fast rate and by 2006, it had acquired Dormez-vous Sleep Centres Inc and Sleep America Inc. Notably, the company concentrates on offering brands, styles as well as different types of mattresses. This is because, it is the only retailer in Canada that supplies Sealy, Serta, Simmons, king down, comfort together with Sunset Collection beds at a low price. The company believes that it is the light to better careers. It aims to care, reward their work environment, and offer good customer services in order to maintain its customers forever. Additionally, the company has leading experts who are always innovating and evolving profitable products as well as supporting their surrounding community through participating in charity work. The major pillar of the company includes the people, culture, profit and quality (Knell 39).
The company values its associates hence providing them with comprehensive benefit packages, which entails health care, life insurance, security together with long and short-term disability benefits so that they can get an opportunity of investing in their future. Concurrently, the company encourages diversity because it enhances richness, which augments quality life among individuals and their departments. Therefore, this encourages the company to recruit talented and diverse workforce and offer them development tools in order to increase on their production. They also support union among individuals from varying background for them to appreciate the benefits of sharing ideas and recognize the input of every associate. Sleep Country Company has chosen not to expand beyond Canada because it wants to be an open-ended limited purpose trust, with the main aim of investing within the retail mattress industry (Knell 40).
