Surely, sexuality and gender are concepts which can not be divorced from the family. As Robe and Jeanette (2013) report, man is a sexual animal. The idea of sexual preferences, interests and attractions are typical of any family. One of the reasons why people enter into marriage contracts is to get sexual fulfillment. This justifies why the married couples always value sexual satisfaction as the corner stone of every marriage. This is similar to the concept of gender which emphasizes the division of roles amongst the married couples. Traditionally, the males and females have been engaging in masculine and feminine activities respectively. However, with the increasing modernity, gender is losing a meaning in most families since these roles have changed. This is as a result of the influences from the media, schools and families. Many people are changing their attitudes because of the information got from such platforms. For instance, through the media, people are enlightened on the equality of all the genders.
Single parenthood refers to a situation in which children are cared for and brought up by either of the parents. It has become a common phenomenon in the contemporary society. It may be caused by divorce, separation or choice. In fact, to some people, it is a lifestyle. However, such families are faced with financial constraints and lack of parental love by the missing parents. This may negatively affect the lives of such children in the long run.
The complex nature of the society has necessitated the rise of conflicts amongst the people based on their social class, race, ethnicity, gender and age. However, this can be explained using the conflict theory which argues in favor of such a rivalry. Naturally, many will feel inferior while others superior. Meaning, each of these individuals has unique and abilities, attitudes, interests and weaknesses which conflict with one another. Since it may be difficult to meet all of them, it is inevitable that a conflict will occur in the families and society.
