Master of Arts from St. James College. Currently in the PhD program. No prior formal experience although worked as a junior lecturer during college internship of 3 months duration.
- How did you get selected for the post you hold? How was the competition like during the selection process?
I received a distinction grade for my MA program from college. Faced an interview for the applied post and then went for program training. The selection process was rigorous and challenging. Was one of only three candidates to get the nod ahead from over forty applications.
- Typically, how many lectures you teach in a day? What is the average batch size of students in your lecture?
Normally, they assign me 4 lectures in a day. The workload depends upon length and time of the course I have to teach. There are around thirty students in each lecture. Again it varies from course to course.
- What all courses do you teach?
I teach political science, sociology, history and current affairs.
- A performance review system for all lecturers has been placed by almost all Universities in the country. Did you ever had to face such a performance evaluation? If so what was your score? Please elaborate.
Yes. There has been a performance review in my college also. Every lecturer has to face an annual performance evaluation, especially the fresh ones. I was evaluated too. I got a fair grade. I was instructed to improve and perform to the best of my abilities.
- Are you enjoying your current job?
Yes. It’s a respectable job. It is a reputed college and I am getting to teach the disciplines I am proficient at.
- What according to you are the skills necessary to be a successful lecturer? Do you think this profession is for anyone and everyone?
You have to be well-versed with your subject area. Should be ready to study hard and never back out of any problem. Must get involved in further research.
