The existential theory can be used in psychotherapy and counseling as a means of helping clients and more especially adolescents find meaning in life by allowing their inner driving desires to find solutions to their problems (Capuzzi & Gross, 2011). Thus, clients can begin by finding meaning in life by starting to handle abstract concepts born in their minds.
The existential theory can be very useful in helping
According to the existential theory, humans constantly have a longing to connect with others and feel as though they are part of the wider society (Capuzzi & Gross ,2011). I would apply this concept in the case of Justina. I would ask her to take time and think of situations or times when she gets the urge to be connected to her mother despite the strained relationship they share. Then, I would ask her to think of a possibility of having that desire all through no matter the situations she finds herself. That way I will have helped her create the capacity for self awareness in her.
Intervention 2
As a therapist I will help Jastina understand that it takes her effort to forge a positive relationship with her mother. She needs to make an effort to resolve their differences amicably without quarrelling or being harsh to her mother. That will start by her anxieties head- on (Capuzzi & Gross, 2011). The intervention will help improve their relationship because through that her mother will get to see that they do not have to quarrel to solve their differences.
These two interventions will help Jastina move forward and have a better relationship with her mother by helping her make the effort to ensure that happens. The focus of these interventions is to help her have a good relationship with her mother and in case they do not agree on something then can reach an agreement or solve their problems without having to quarrel.
