The stranger which is also known as The Outsider (L’Etranger) is a novel that was published in the year 1942. As much as the author never at any one point consider himself a person with different perspective in nature his book essentially explores a variety of tasks that he may consider as deterministic, stoicistic or all that same. In the book The Stranger the main character is center staged by a person named Meursault, whom is an Algerian by descent but is considered somewhat of differentials this cannot be equated from his hard headed nature hence he goes ahead and does of his opinion and thought despite any other agendas that may have to be of considerations in his life. He is somewhat introverted. The man Meursault can sometimes be irrational as can be seen when he murders another man of Arab nature. The story has two points of view there is the first person narrative by Meursault himself this is before and after the murder that occurred.
Meursault’s lack of emotional capability goes a long way to astonish even those of cold heated nature. He is unremorseful and doesn’t consider emotional capability in any of his doings or undoing’s this goes to affect his relationships his outlook to others as well as his life. In one incident at his mother’s funeral in the first part of the book we can see that of learning about his own mothers death there is little or no reaction in Meursault. He doesn’t shoe any emotions that will allude to grief or emotional capability. He is at one point asked whether he wishes to view the corpse of which he subsequently denies to. His callous nature is well enhanced when instead of viewing the body he goes ahead and drinks coffee while smoking his cigarette at the view site of the coffin. He is only seen to comment about the grief of others in place of what has just happened.
As the story proceeds we can see that Meursault meets a girl by the name Marie, she is a former employee at his firm the two begin having a sexual relationship immediately despite the issue that Meursault’s mother had passed on the previous day. He is of assistance to a friend who happens to be a neighbor when they decide to help His friend seek revenge over his unfaithful girlfriend. Raymond Sites, the friend goes ahead and approves of the revenge mission. The revenge is based on invitation of the friend’s girlfriend over so that Raymond can have a last sex as a last revenge option. After the sex incident Raymond had planned to kick out the girl.
Meursault is characteristically unfazed by the unmoved by this decision of his friend hence he doesn’t comment on anything since he believes his friends part of the story. He doesn’t show any empathy or hard feelings for what is going to happen but he calls out on the plan by saying he sees no need of helping out. From the whole story about Meursault we can see that he is emotionally cold even at the murder that he is accused off he is more comfortable in jail since his nature doesn’t really agree with the masses hence we can see that he has no emotions whatsoever over his actions.
