Introduction
Organizations always encounters and come across different problems and issues, and those organizations which are able to manage them accordingly and with complete authority are comparatively more effective and worthwhile as compared to the companies which are not manage the things accordingly .
During the current economic crisis, there were number of things that found interesting and effective for the companies in all over the world accordingly. One of the most important things that associated with an organization to be differentiated with any other company is its Information system that used specifically for the decision making stance of the companies accordingly. Economic prosperity and expansion are some of the major aspects that associated with an organization in terms of the economic and non economic growth of the companies accordingly . The management information system (MIS) is always be effective for the companies throughout the world and for every organization of the world, however choosing the best strategy to deliver the things at the right time is important for the company accordingly. In this assignment a sort of consultation is required for the company that seeking to enhance the level of their project. The assignment is based upon a case study of a hypothetical company, The Galactic Star (The Star). As per the case study, the company was doing a fantastic job after some of the years of their core operations. They were sold to a new company with the name of MBA, and then started to move again to emerge as a new company again accordingly. The assignment depends upon the key strategies that will be effective for the company to pursue satisfaction and effectiveness.
Analysis & Findings
Competitive Strategy Model
As per the constitution of the law, an organization which is trying to have their separate entity after initiated a merger or alliance with a new company is possible, but there are some aspects that should have been taken into consideration for the analysis. The competitive strategy model that can be used by THE STAR Company for their effectiveness will be depending upon their own effectiveness. The Star Company has the guts and management system from which they can stand on their feet again without any problem or issue .
The business model which is now suggested to the Star is depending upon the effectiveness of shareholders and the upper management, and it is basically found in the long run effectiveness of the company. As per the case, the company is highly effective in terms of managing their employees as well as shareholders in a perfect manner. The model is all about strengthen their business aspect in a perfect manner, and tries to give those positive feedbacks and working related to the long term effectiveness of the company in particular . The Star project can reach on the same level of effectiveness with the help of these strategies particularly, and can deliver the best services in town. From the case, it is also found that the Start Project has the sufficient amount of resources which is an indemnity that the financial position of the company is effective and high, and they can used the same resources for their advancement in the market with effectiveness.
Entity Relationship Diagram
Every organization depends upon its departments, and there are numerous departments that specifically found in an organization to enhance their level of efficacy and functionality in a perfect manner. Though every department is essential for the functionality and effectiveness of an entity, however the name of marketing and human resources department are some of the most important departments associated with a company.
Marketing department is an important department that associated with an organization because it has the ability to market the products of a company in front of the general public accordingly. The entity relationship diagram (ERD) is as follows
The marketing department is one of those departments that associated with an entity for making timely and effective strategies for their future consequences. The same aspect can be applied over the already mentioned company The Star Project as well, in which the marketing department of the company has kept on a perfect position for the strategy mapping and implementation for the future growth and effectiveness for their future. If the company will deliver the same effectiveness with a certain passage of time, then it will become easier for them to take timely decisions on the basis of their marketing department . The company can utilize the Management Information System (MIS) stance of marketing for its selected department, as it is used specifically for the decision making stance and purpose. MIS is the thing in which charts and figures are used in such a manner that it can be used for the making of strategies and implementing it accordingly. The MIS system of the Start project in terms of marketing will certainly assist them to make their presence in the market for a long span of time.
On the other hand, the most important department is Human Resources management. The Star Project still has the same team of director and managers which have been working with the company prior to the selling to MBA. The company can utilize the expertise of those directors and managers to make their company eminent than the others. The E-Business Environment can be enhance significantly in the future, and will provide effectiveness for the market accordingly. The association of MIS in redeveloping the HR department of the company would be extremely essential and effective for the chosen company, and the HR department should be given extra attention for their effectiveness in the future. Hiring of new staff will work like wonders for the company in the near future, and will try to have dominating results for the company in the near future. The business process will be in great support of the company, and will be used for their standing up again in the market.
Difference among Information and Decision Support System
Technology has now emerged as an important thing in different parts of the world, and now technology are used to strengthen the entire financial and operational structure of the companies in a best possible manner. Decision making is an important point of bargain of an organization and without effective and timely decision making stance, no organization can sustain for long time periods. For taking timely decisions, it is important for the companies to utilize the best system for their information and support. For effective decision making, the management of an organization always uses a variety of tools and techniques, and among those tools and techniques there is a name of Information System and Decision Support System as well.
Though the working of both of these models and structure are the same, but there is a huge difference among their workability and improving the things for the companies. Decision Support System is basically a preplanned approach system in which all the data have been used and mentioned under a specific category and will be transformed in an effective manner. DSS will work on the previous data accumulation and gathering; however an information system will create data for the management to take timely decisions. DSS works in a smaller capacity in which the mindset will be thinking some of the top notch and major issues related to the company to resolve however information system will provide the entire system of effectiveness in the market to get an idea about the things accordingly. Information system will define the things in a perfect manner by creating effective and timely reports that can be used by the companies to enhance their effectiveness in the market. In this particular analysis of the Star project, the existence of information system would be more worthwhile for the company and its management to take timely decisions for the betterment of the company in the near future.
MIS Planning and Design
The function of management is defined and works on four different aspects known as Planning, leading, Controlling and organizing. The same aspect is necessary for MIS Planning as well. MIS Planning is one of the best methods that used for the purpose of reporting in which charts and graphs can be made accordingly to present the things in a better manner. Some of the alternative plans of MIS Planning are MATLAB and PUSH Reporting.
In both of the types of reporting, there are some specific data is required that will be put in the relevant sections to come over the decision of a decision. Reports would have been made accordingly with the help of delivering the data in a best possible manner. Push Reporting is all about a human based reporting alternative in which the management of a specific department will push their staff to make specific reports for the decision making stance of the company. It is an important part of management analysis used by different companies in different parts of the world. However, it is still far away from the original method and implication of MIS planning and design.
DSS Planning & Design
Likewise MIS, there are certain alternative methods that can be used in the DSS planning. DSS planning is all about planning and putting the right data in the right direction, and then it will bring an effective result for the management of a company for taking timely decisions. One of the main alternatives of DSS planning is Business Pro Max software, in which things are required to put accordingly, and in the end of the day the software will come up with a perfect business plan for the analysis purpose. One of the major alternatives of DSS Planning is What-If Analysis. In What if analysis, a management will look forward on the trial and error method to get the things in the right manner. Alternative to DSS, the company can use the core expertise of the management on a similar aspect to get an idea about the definite impact of a result in accordance with its utilization.
Change Management
After reading out the case study of the Start project, it is found that there were number of loopholes which were specifically associated with the company at the time of their actual representation and operations, however the loopholes can be overcome easily with the help of effective strategies or by bringing some positive changes in the company. The company which is now trying to bring their own a new identity in the market is recommended to change their pricing strategy, because after the restructure, the level of brand recognition, value and loyalty has not set up on the same level as before, and the company should use the specific change management system for their growth. Apart from that the company should give extra attention to their employees accordingly. An approach like management bi objectives (MBO) would be more than essential for the company to enhance the level of satisfaction among the employees regarding the newly restructured company, and to boost up the morale of the employees for the betterment of the company. In MBO approach, the company can mitigate the level of conflict with their employees and would be worthwhile in the near future.
Conclusion
The assignment is base entirely upon the information system and its implementation. There is a hypothetical case is associated with this assignment of a company with the name of the Star Project. From this entire analysis, it is evaluated that the Star Project has the guts and ability to increase their financial belongings accordingly again in the market with effectiveness.
